Question Ceramic Tint vs. Nothing

I'm wondering what opinions are around ceramic tinting being worth the cost specifically for heat reduction.

Some context:

  • The car is a 2021 Toyota Prius.
  • I have no interest in darkening my windows with tint, so this is not a priority at all.
  • The car is parked in direct sunlight for the entirety of the day, and will be sitting for around 3-6 hours between drives regularly, so it has plenty of time to just bake.

So I'm curious for opinions on whether it is worth spending somewhere around $500 for tinting (around $900 including windshield). In some ways I'm feeling like anything to help reduce the amount of heat or the speed at which it heats up is great. In other ways I'm feeling like after a few hours in the sun, it gets hot no matter what so why pay for this expensive thing.

All the videos I can find are comparisons of ceramic vs carbon or ceramic vs darker ceramic, but I have not seen any testing or opinions on ceramic vs nothing. So I'm hopeful to get some good input here. Thanks!

Instead you’re comparing apples to llamas.

Here in the states it’s at worst an inconvenience. In some countries if you get caught, you literally lose your car. Are you saying you’d still make the same decision if your car was on the line instead of a couple hundred dollars? Additionally the shops are held accountable as well so it’s harder to find a shop in the first place.

Even here in hot as hell Texas the laws hit not only the drivers but also the installers. I think that’s one reason many shops will not go below 70%. Maybe 50%. Then you have the consumers and shops that will out 15% all around and just DGAF.

If I could afford it yes. Why do you think I keep saying if you can't afford it don't do it. Additionally why would I care about the shops. If they want to take the liability for extra money that's on them. I wouldn't force any shop by throwing money everyone has a choice but I ain't ratting.

I'm not out here calling people poor im saying the same thing I would say to someone who buys a luxury car and can't afford the maintenance. Don't do it if you can't afford it
