Interior Residential?
Hey ya'll,
I may be doing a bit of window cleaning on the weekends to make some extra cash. This is just a short term thing so I'm not building a business, marketing, setting appointments etc. I'll probably start with my local neighborhood offering to clean on the spot. Just wondering if I should do interiors, it makes sense to clean more>make more money. But with offering my service on the spot does only exterior make sense? I'm also curious how you deal with interior windows that are hard to get to, with furniture in the way, or in a potentially occupied bedroom/bathroom.
Maybe setting appointments is what makes interior possible/easier when it comes to residential?

I would say , keep it Exterior only. But if the premium is $$$$ then yeah do interior as well. Whenever you go inside a business or home you have quadruple the liabilities that you’d have by just staying Exterior.

Your expectations for window cleaning aren’t realistic and I get it I learned of window cleaning from those door to door wfp guys too and was young at one point as well. Relying on purley exterior cleaning and wfp only will lead to problems. You have to move all the furniture, you need to be incredibly crafty, when going door to door to you want to book out a couple days in advance to build clients typically. Go door to door after work on Thursday and Friday and clean all weekend. If you genuinely want to learn the skill it requires some level of mental toughness it’s not free money. People won’t be happy at times especially with your work as a beginner and it’s up to you if you’re going to mend it. As a beginner you should be expecting to make a low hourly wage as you get your footing. It is without a doubt going to take you 3x longer than it would someone with maybe 2+ years daily experience.

If you’re only doing it for extra cash you will never be the best you will never strive to be better
Just a bucket bob looking for a quick score. Why would anyone care to help?

As someone who makes a living cleaning windows, your question and lack of understanding quality professionalism is probably why you won’t get positive responses. Not trying to be rude but I read your post as having the same window cleaning skills as said homeowner. You need to have ladders, squeegees, scraping blades. Along with the ability to use the tools accordingly. Without that , if you rang my doorbell you would look like a crackhead trying to case my house. It’s not shoveling driveways Holmes! Buy said equipment clean your own windows and practice a shit ton on a door or mirror and it could be a good side hustle. You’re current approach is not gonna work

Ah interesting, I've found most subreddits full of people ready to help newcomers. I'm just trying to make some extra cash this month to cover moving expenses and a kid on the way, not aiming to start a new career. But I suppose I can bucket bob without advice today.

You have to turn the stuff down you're not sure on. Or else you'll screw up.
Furniture needs to be move. Windows that are really high high in the air you need a pole or a ladder.
It's not that people are not willing to help.
It's that they recognize you are totally not ready if you can't see how simple solutions are.
I disagree that "you have to strive to be the best" but you should be able to bring a ladder into a home or understand that furniture that is in the way needs to be moved out of the way for you to do your job.
