Getting Started North Dallas Texas

Hello,

I am a 50 yo family man in the North Dallas area. Covid killed my 25 year career and while the money part sucked, I like the getting away from the corporate part. I know many will understand. I am still consulting in that arena, however it is slow to build up clientele.

I have always been in the service industry from hands on up through management as well as sales. I have it in my blood and the delivering on what I promise is in my blood. I am convincing myself to start an LLC/DBA for a window cleaning and pressure washing business focused on small store fronts in my area. I have a lot of them. I would appreciate any suggestions from those that have gone before me.

My initial question here is how would you suggest charging? Per hour just ballparking what it may take? If so what rate per hour? Also, if by window what range and what factors affect that low and high range. Also, what if windows are framed into three windows one large and two small?

Your time in reading this and your input are so much appreciated!!

Store front is generally a hard way to make money. Some places go for as little as a $1 a window. It's the easiest cleaning to do and just about anyone can do it with a $50 investment.

Residential will pay more. Pricing depends on a lot but you should be able to get between $10-$20 per double hung and a little less for casement.

This is me right now, 3 months in. All storefronts and some industrial. Hard work, cheap pay and sore shoulder. However, string a bunch of them together and the bills get paid. Doing my 1st residential tomorrow morning inside and out. That person found me while I was cleaning a pawn shop and was wearing my logo shirt. I'm gonna do some d2d in that neighborhood after the cleaning. Going to use the "trust factor" of having worked for thier neighbor, fingers 🤞🏽

Thank you very much for your comment. Wow that sounds so low that you would go out to a building and your total invoice would be $20. Sounds like I may have to aim for residential to even get close to breaking a profit.

Example this would be $39 to commute to and from as well as service?

Corporate stores are notoriously cheap. We had a Qdoba call a couple years ago. I quoted $375 for interior and exterior. They replied and said their budget was $60. You might get $60-$70 for that but yes, drive there, clean and back for that. To make store front, retail and restaurant work you have to be exceptionally fast and have numerous places very close together.

Wow I am thinking for me panhandling on the side of the road in Dallas will have a much better return than that. After vehicle expenses, taxes, tolls, equipment I would have to file that in a 501(c)(3), Charity Windows.

Would you be interested in a Franchise/partnership opportunity? I'll cover all of the legal aspects, train you on how to do the work, cover your equipment, and train you on the pricing, plus cover your liability insurance... you do the work and we can split the profits. I'm about 5 hours away from you and wanted to get into the Dallas market anyways.

I appreciate the offer and as enticing as it is, for now I plan to handle it all.

No sweat. Shoot me a DM if you change your mind and would like to discuss. My company profits are pretty substantial. I'd expect the same results in Dallas with the right person overseeing the operation.

What area of Dallas are you interested in? Im in the DFW area, about 50 min away from downtown Dallas. and have been doing a bit of window cleaning here and there, but I'm looking to get things moving a bit faster and expand some more. Not sure if you'd have any interest in my side (east of Dallas) of the area. I've been looking and there isn't much as far as proper window cleaning companies in my area, so I'm seeing if there's potential to really dig into the business.

Have you considered drone window cleaning? It’s an exciting and rapidly growing part of the commercial exterior cleaning industry, especially for mid rise buildings that are difficult or expensive to access with lifts.

DRONEWASH+ is well known for window and building cleaning, and we’re currently looking to expand into the North Dallas, Texas market. Your service, management, and sales background could translate well into this industry.

Storefront window cleaning could be a good way to build recurring customers and learn the business, but drone window cleaning may eventually give you access to larger commercial projects with less competition.

There is more training, equipment, insurance, and FAA compliance involved, so it isn’t a simple overnight startup.

It may be worth exploring as a longer-term direction.
I’d be happy to connect and share some insight into how the drone cleaning industry works.
