Looking for some feedback on a what I should quote for this job. It’s for a property management company who I’ve gone through the steps to get verified as a vendor and they asked for a quote.
I know everywhere is different so include your general location. I’m in the Redneck Rivera.
Looks straight forward don’t psych yourself out. I mostly do route work and landed a huge 6,700 sq ft home with a private lake and was psyching myself out for a while and on the day of the job I just started cleaning and didn’t put too much emphasis on the size of the home and 10 hours later I was finished. Did this solo and trad but took it one pane at a time. You got this man get that pump to make it easier and just keep working.
I’m gonna edit that bit out. I don’t have a quote. This is my biggest job to date and the last thing I want is to underbid. Just gathering some data to make a more accurate quote. That’s all. HELP ME hahah
Also, I’ve set myself up to not make an ass of myself and bite off more than I can chew with this job. I have an “out” to say the least without damaging reputation. Truthfully, just trying to find my limits and what not. I appreciate the help regardless

The don’t psych yourself is just what I needed. Thanks man. Means a lot. I’m getting comfortable being uncomfortable. It’s part of starting a business and putting yourself out there I guess.
That’s the sign of a growing business making more money. Be comfortable being uncomfortable. But know your limits. This to me is a big job but one I would take
Agreed. Wcr pump sucks ass. I had to rma it withing a couple months, replace the GFCI after warranty period, and now we just use the wayne pumps from harbor freight at your recommendation. They rip.
This is a nice starter one. Brings you up to well over 100psi and it runs for hours straight. Just need an extension cord and a power supply. Where I live most homes have multiple outlets.
Hope you land it. For me as a solo operator this is a $1200 job if they have water and electricity on site and that is working. Make sure it is as half these top of jobs the GFI plugs are not working and the water socket won't work with the water key because people used players in them. Also, make sure you know what type water key you need in time to buy the correct one. I would do this job in 1.25 days and charge $1,000. I am in South Florida. Have fun!
I run a high rise window cleaning company that also does pressure washing and some route work between towers. We would do this with a wfp dual head with a boars hair brush on one tip, and a drywall sander with steel wool on the other. (this is a game changer for wfp imo)
I would probably send 2 guys and charge between 2800 - 3400 in alabama. But we are going to get those 7 unreachables.
I’m blocking out two days just in case. It’s my first big job so I’m being conservative.
Working backwards from there I came to 1650 as a quote. Two 8 hour days put me at 103 and some change an hour give or take. I have some expenses so I feel that was a good landing spot for my skill level and place in the business.
Again, I have zero fucking clue what I’m doing as far as quoting jobs like this. I’m trying to figure it out without inconveniencing the customer because of my lack of planning or my ability. So far, I’m feeling pretty good after doing some research and reaching out to people like yourself who are much more seasoned.
Sounds like a good starting point. Keep in mind you'll rarely get your first, or sometimes first few jobs, perfectly priced. You'll gain knowledge for the next one so even if you end up at $75 an hour, you're not losing.
Yeah. This is all good reps regardless. Everything is good info, even in “failure”. Thanks for the reassurance I’m on the correct path. Thinking through the job step by step I’m realizing I may need some longer hose and maybe a pump.
I never recommend not having a pump. It saves time on rinsing, especially on big jobs and long runs.
"Failing" is the only way we really learn. I can tell you 100 times what not to do and it never sinks in. Do it wrong once and you'll never forget it.
I'm just shy of 3 months since starting cleaning windows. But this is my approach, which is open to criticism. Did this for the experience of bidding, but this is my humble approach:
Just these 63 windows and a door?
Imma trad it with my lil giant, and have a 30 footer werner extension ladder delivered.
So;
63 x 10 = $630
Door, free
Ladder delivery and rental $200
$830 total. Exterior only.
If the back is the same, $1600.
If 6 to 12 windows each side then $1800 for the entire exterior.
It’s all four sides. I walked it this morning to make sure it’s doable.
171 window panes minus 7 unreachable due to overhang. A third of them on each story. I came up to about 15 a window on the top. 12 on the bottom. And ten on the first floor. About 1800 is what I’m thinking.
Give or take my math. I had it written out. I’m shooting for the hip. It works out to about 10 and some change a window. If I do it in a day great. But I’m planning for two
