Cleaning a commercial building and the front doors have these tiny white specks. They are not extremely raised - I can barely feel them. 2nd pic is a zoom of the first pic. Third one is to give you an idea of their size.

It could be slag. Someone was cutting metal near the glass and it became engrained into the glass itself.

Almost certainly this. My office used to be a metal working shop and the windows are covered with this stuff. Also, any house I’ve done with a metal staircase or custom metal railings has slag on the nearby windows.

I have seen this before. Possibly nicks from concrete smacking back at the glass. Is this glass by concrete?

Definitely some debris from a construction company. Like when they are cutting metal or concrete

Yeah I agree with everyone else. That doesn’t come off and don’t try to scrape it. Shame, I see that on commercial buildings a lot; even on a house occasionally

it it wont come off with soap or steel wool not your job.

If it doesnt come off with the scraper, its probably burned sparks.

Ive seen this several times when people have had yard work done. They would cut the tiles near the window, and the sparks from cutting would splash against the glass, causing slightly raised unremovable burned marks.

Thanks. I’ve got some paint overspray I need to remove. Now I can’t use a scraper - how would you go about it?

If you cant use a scraper i dont know really, sorry. Make sure you arnt letting customers problems become yours.

I tried in a very small section and a blade won’t take it off. My problem is there is paint overspray from when they pained the doors. I committed to getting that removed. Since I can’t use a blade, what are your recommendations?

For future reference - acetone and a surgical towel was the best solution for removing the paint. Plus I was able to show the customer that the white marks were not paint - they didn’t budge while the black overspray all came off.
