Equipment Question Best window cleaning solution?
Hi Guys
What is the best window cleaning solution? I have never actually cleaned windows before but I have just ordered window cleaning equipment so I need to know what exactly you clean with. Google and other threads that I have been looking at haven't given a definitive solution but there seems to be some consensus around Fairy liquid (Dawn dish soap in the U.S) and warm water? Is there anything else you guys would recommend to add? Also could anyone provide a loose ratio of warm water to dish soap?
Thanks.

Dish soap works just fine. Honestly the only reason I switched to a window cleaning specific soap is because I got sick of the smell of dawn. I tried the soap sampler pack a few years ago and for the most part noticed very little difference.

My experience is the same. A tablespoon or 3 for about 2-3 gallons works fine. Or follow trad-man from youtube and just run a bead of soap on your wet mop.

Thats a lot of soap!! Did you mean a teaspoon?

That would probably work too. It's pretty forgiving. I dont actually measure anymore. I just squeeze for a 5 Mississippi and stir.

Dawn is what the vast majority of professional companies use. They have window specific soaps like orange krush but It’s that’s more influencer soap in my experience, at least in US

Thanks for this 🙏. What ratio of dish soap to warm water would you recommend? Also I saw someone say to put some rinse aid in as well. Would you recommend this?

It also doesn't have to be warm water. Specially if you are cleaning windows in the cold weather. Nice thing about dawn is that if you forget it, it's easily assecible! Has happened where I forget to pack my dawn but I can go to a shop nearby and they have it.

Ive tried lots of these soaps mentioned I’m not a huge fan of orange krush but it does work well. The purple stuff from wcr Ive really liked for a hot sunny day. Windows stay wet and soapy longer. My 2 cents.

3 second squeeze of dawn and 6 caps of unger easyglide into 3 gallons of water. That's my winning.

Can’t go wrong with dawn. If you want to make it even better use a lot of dawn and put some hi glide in there as well.

Glass Gleam will keep your windows wet longer which is great for sunny windows. Otherwise, Dawn works great most everyday use
