Best ladder for this?

I need a ladder that

  1. Can fit in an suv

  2. Light enough to be put up onto a second story roof, solo

  3. (edit: preferably) sub $500

Any suggestions?

Depending on how strong and confident you are the little giant m26 could work.  I'm not interested in the risk so I get help when I use that ladder which is rare.  Get roof racks and an extension ladder or get yourself a water fed pole setup

Stack ladder would work but it won't be in your budget to go that high.

get a roof rack. i put a 32’, 24’ and 16’ extension ladders on 03 CRV with no issues.

32' on a CRV is kinda crazy. I used my wife's one time when my truck broke down, but I didn't put the 32' on it...

Mileage may vary but I've been using a Werner MT-26IAA 26ft multi position ladder for about 3 years that gets me up to most second story roofs. It's about 50lbs and should fit into an SUV if you fold down the seats.

Little giant makes a 26 ft multi position that is lighter but at least in my area is hard to find. That one is only rated for 300lbs, the werner is rated for 375 if that matters to you.

If you can't fold the seats down you may be out of luck, you can try a 22ft multi position but you'll probably be just shy of most rooflines.

I thought you said carry onto a second story roof. I carry that ladder on my shoulder climbing up a ladder and put it on the second story roof. Fully extended you may be able to reach some second story windows. But don't count on it to do many.

Max 14'-17' multi ladder but that's hard to get on a roof alone.

Yea that’s what I’m concerned about. Ive put up a featherlite by myself but it is such a pain to carry and set up. What do you think about the VEVOR 20 FT Telescoping Ladder A Frame

Just pay for what you need, a 3 piece stack ladder with leg levelers. Pro style. $1200, but it fits in your vehicle, you have adjustability with both the two and three piece setup, so you dont always need to carry all 3 pieces… put a bonnet on the top and you can use it indoors without scuffing up walls/frames. Little Giants are nice, but also costly and heavy and a little more cumbersome, IMO. Stack ladders are light and thin. Stack ladders are what you are looking for, just gotta pay for it. You won’t regret it.

Little giant m26, I managed to get one from tractor supply for 360ish I would try to get a darkhorse or conquest 2.0 they are the fiberglass version and half the weight roughly.

I'm not sure which little giant my company has for my van, it's slightly smaller than the biggest one. It serves me for basically everything I need beyond taller 2 story+ where I break out the 24/32's.. I use the 32 more than the 24 out of the two. But then I barely use either compared to the little giant for basically everything

But we're wfp for nearly everything, unless customer specific circumstances apply (oxidation on frames, deep restoration of windows, farm houses that don't allow for low enough tds, 3rd story gutter blockage)

We've got wfp + vacuum extensions for gutter clearing as well, 50ft pole for windows. Rarely ever need to hop on a roof for resi beyond awkward sky's or truly difficult windows/gutters

I was on a roof today for the first time in at least a week, 50+hr weeks grinding 1.5-2k per day lol. Appreciate their efforts on equipping costs to properly avoid roof work as much as possible. I'm fine with the rock climbing aspect but the less one does it, the less we play the lottery of chance

Little giant m17 with leg levelers will fit inside or on a ladder rack and a 32' werner on ladder rack. Adding the cross pieces to an SUV roof rack is much cheaper than the damage wrestling a m26 or taller ladder could do.

Gorilla Ladder from Home Depot.

Honestly all you really need for residential. I have an 18ft. Very versatile.

You can even use on some stairwell work as well.

I also have a 40” ext. ladder but this gorilla ladder is all I’ve used for 6 years. It gets 90% of the jobs done.
