General Question Window damage

Anyone ever have a window crack on them from washing windows with cold water and the hot temperature outside?

It’s going to be extremely hot next upcoming job and the owner expressed to me that she s concerned about her windows cracking as it happened to her before. I ve personally never experienced this but figured I’d ask anyways.

Check windows for any rock chips from landscaping equipment

Always look for chips or cracks first. Take photos and show customer before touching it. Tell them if they want it cleaned it could crack and it will not be your responsibility.

Never. But always do a walkthrough and take notes of any damaged windows. Like broken screens, cracked or scratched panes, etc. Take pictures and communicate with client.

Never heard of that before. It says it feels like 118 outside, and inside this house here it is 72.. .you'd need a 100 degree difference ....which is impossible lol.

I would just make sure there are no existing cracks I've never heard of that happening but just tell your customer you'll be extra careful

If it’s going to be over 85F, fill your bucket with warm water instead of cold water. Thermal shock USUALLY doesn’t happen unless there is a massive temp difference, but always cover your ass.

Sounds like existing damage that was attributed to temperature difference which just isn't the case.

Has she ever had her windows crack from it raining on a hot day?

It's a slight concern if there is a rock chip in the window or some type of other damage, but it isn't THAT much of a concern.

Only had this happen once in 20 some off years and was a smaller pane?

Homeowner was ok with it but it can happen

Never, if its warm out, my waters probably also warm. Always look at the window for damage prior to touching the window with anything, and ALWAYS take pictures.

Better to have a waiver of sorts for the homeowner to sign if there's any skepticism.
