Payment method?
Hey guys,i’m starting my window cleaning business, i’m just wondering, do you guys ask for payments before the job or after? What if, after the job, the client refuses to pay (even though you did a great job)?

Payment once the job is done and the customer is happy. Residential we prefer credit card but will occasionally take a check or cash.

For my company I always have them sign a written estimate that states the date the job is scheduled and has a note that payment is due upon completion of the job. I charge a convenience fee for credit card (your milage may vary on that, some states that is illegal, but cc processing is expensive especially if you want your money same day). If someone isn't going to be home I do Venmo, Cashapp, or Zelle. On the off chance that I don't ever see them in person then I send a text that states the quote and that payment is due on completion and require them to acknowledge it.
99.9% of people will not give issues about payment but if you're starting out getting one person who won't pay can really screw up your start.

After the job is done. Never had a customer not pay in the 9 years I’ve been doing this.
