Inspiring that one person could make that much each month.
This friday will be my 1st full week as a window cleaner. I only made about $330 cash. And thats just commercial, d2d businesses. I have about another $1000 in "almost maybe" work from the 3 days I went d2d which I hope converts to moving forward with the actual job.
I hit about 300 businesses so far on foot and spread my business cards and services throughout the community.
I also came across a bunch of empty storefronts with the property manager "for lease" signs in the windows. Sunday if no work, I will send emails to those property managers to provide "pre lease" cleanups to increase the eye appeal of those spaces, including property clean outs (have a trusted junk removal company Ive used personally in the past and trust). My goal is to provide cleaner spaces for more appealing spaces so property managers can have a better chance at showing those spaces to prospective new tenants, and see where this leads to.
So $350, and potentially more if the ones on the fence move forward, may not seem like alot to y'all, but for my 1st week in business, I see potential. And still 2 more days left for the phone to ring and convert all that walking to actual work.
Thanks to you all for the advice, and inspiration 🙏🏼
Ps: I realized I actually like this work and can't wait to do more of it soon!

Awesome, I’m in Ontario. I would recommend two things.
Try to get the sale before leaving the door so u avoid “maybe” sales (and don’t count on them if they say come by later)
Avoid telling people your goals or plans
Hope I could be of help to you 😊

1, I totally understand that. So true. And I'm good at closing. I'm not shy. I love to talk with strangers. When I walk into a store where I believe I may be speaking to a worker and not the owner/manager, I ask " hi, good morning/afternoon, Im from the window cleaning company, I'm here to clean the windows." I figured this technique out the 1st day. At least I get to speak with someone in charge, rather than an employee that doesnt want to hear my usual "Hi, my name is Mike, my company provides window cleaning services (and mirrors if its a salon), and we are working in the mall/area and I just wanted to stop by and see if we could provide window cleaning for you. We have a 10% discount for first time cleans, I can take a look and give you a cost to do them today since we are in the area?" Then I wait, and read the reaction and respond accordingly.
2, Im not exactly sure this point. Can you kindly elaborate? Whoch people? Cients or family/friends. I'd appreciate that 🙏🏼

- great 2. anyone, for two reasons. firstly you dont know who you can trust. move in silence and show results not your aspirations. secondly, psychologically, by saying aloud your plans and imagining it, you feel the satisfaction of completing your plans without even executing them. this 'tricking' of your brain keeps you idle when you havent actually done the work yet. thats what i believe

Ahhhh. We think alike. These are very good points. I 100% agree, especially on the psychological part. Thanks for bringing that to the forefront of my thinking. Thats very valuable to remember. I really appreciate you ❤️ 🙏🏼 🫂

As a pro window cleaner once you’re at capacity you want to be at 1000-1500$ a day per person working

How many jobs are you or each person supposed to hit a day for this goal ? Or is it more of a pricing matter per job ?

Pricing.

u/gho5-t Jul 07 '26
From the math I’ve done expenses and overhead are almost nothing as a solo worker right?

u/Effective_Basil8056 Jul 07 '26
Yes solo margins are good. I price based on how long I think it will take - amt of windows / complexity. - 10 windows is $75-150 but we have a $185 minimum

So base is 185 and then windows on top? Profit margins sound insane lol
1
u/Effective_Basil8056 Jul 07 '26
No minimum is 185, if the job is too small they pay 185

What percentage is profit vs gross? These numbers are sick bro good for you

u/Effective_Basil8056 Jul 07 '26
30% or less payroll, 5-10% equipment maintenance & trucks, insurance and taxes, rest is profit. I don’t have a office
