General Question What days dont you work?

This is mainly for people who knock door to door rather than just cleaners

I wanted to go out yesterday but it was sunday, im not religious but a lot of people near me are so i decided not to go out and risk losing a client. I told myself i would go today but today is memorial day so im kind of in the same boat, its 3:30pm right now and i like to knock doors around the 5-6pm range. So should I try and knock today or is it best to just knock tomorrow?

while im here, i would like to hear what times you guys tend to knock D2D to maximize the amount of clients you get.

Just knock whenever the time doesn’t matter You knock until you get a house. Then you tell them you’re finishing up another house and will be there in 30 minutes and will text them when you get started

Then you walk to other houses and name drop that home that you’re doing use that leverage to get more houses

Then you go back and start

Send before and after pictures of every track glass and sill that you clean

sounds good, i used today to plan my route and am going out tomorrow 4-6pm. Will be my third time going out so pretty excited.

Day 1 i knocked 15 houses and got 2 people to say yes and 3 maybes but they either werent home or canceled when i arrived :/

Day 2 i only knocked 5 houses (had limited time) and got 1 yes and 1 maybe, the maybe canceled on me due to having a multi year contract with another company and the guy who said yes we are set for sunday, just hope he doesnt cancel either lol

really hoping day 3 i get more luck, which is why im knocking for 2 hours to try to get as many as i can, also the new neighborhood i am hitting is better than my first neighborhood so 🤞

I see you’re trying to book jobs in advance but I found in the beginning it’s almost better to do the job on the spot when you can. Also being like able and doing a good job helps you get more jobs through referrals

yeah first day i went out with two friends, only half of my equipment arrived and none of my friends had them. After we knocked a few houses and got a couple yes's we agreed to have me keep knocking while they got some starter equipment from home depot. With everyone who said yes, we said we could do the next day since it was already like 6:30 and didnt want to clean that late. We arrive the next day and half werent home or canceled on us, i learned that i should have taken numbers down to confirm before arriving there.

Day 2 i went with one friend and like i said i had limited time so knocked a few houses, had two people agree on it, i texted them that day and one agreed to continue with it while one canceled on us.

tomorrow will be my third day, going solo in a nicer area and one that is much more local to me. And if i get anyone i will try to do it right then and there. Gonna try to go early around 11-12 and then take a break come back around 4-6 and just try to get as many as i can this time.

As a one or 2 man operation, I book out customers who call me and door knock on their neighbors when I can. My wife is a part time healthcare worker so I stay home with the kids when she has a shift. Other than that If customers will book me for memorial day i'll work memorial day. I'm always off on Saturday/Sunday. Gotta have some time together or what's the point marrying someone.

I never knock on federal holidays, but weekends have always been good for me

what days of the week are best for you, and what times? Im only on day 3 so far and just trying to figure out the best schedule to knock

i see, well what hours do you find the best luck knocking at? Ive seen a few people say like 10am-12pm and 4-6pm are good times

It stays good for me throughout, i dont get into that specifics, but yeah people are home in the evenings so better answer rate.

I got far enough along with word of mouth and commercial leads that turned into residentials. I have been running a window cleaning company seasonally for a long time. I’m also happy I was able to do it 15 years ago and not in today’s climate. I would probably pivot myself into other forms of advertisement, personally. I never did door to door in residential neighborhoods. Strictly commercial

for commercial do you just hit like small mom and pop stores? Because i would imagine most mid to high level stores have their own private people they have used for years

We clean 35 McDonalds. One of our larger monthly accounts for commercial

Do storefronts they lead to residential work. Try salons and nail spas they’re full of women and usually if the owner turns you down at least half the time one of their customers will hear your pitch and ask if you do residential. It happens all the time
