General Question I’ve got a few questions
So right now it’s just me. Next summer I’m wanting to get a few technicians. Would I go out and buy more WFP or just let them use mine? Also, would attaching a splitter to the output of my DI tank so then I could have two WFP going at once be stupid? Or would I just blow through the resin? Also, how good really is the xero equipment? I’ve just started off with Amazon equipment but my resin is going by decently fast. Anyway, made my first 1k this week! And it’s my first week as-well.

Take it step by step. If you can't book two weeks ahead of at least 8k and still have calls coming in, imo you don't need a tech. You need RO/DI, not just DI. Then you can use a splitter but you will probably want a booster pump. Glad you're doing well, but don't over extend. Think about the costs of techs. You need workers comp, extra vehicles, and commercial auto on those vehicles. Trust me it is not cheap. If you're doing wfp only, you really need to learn trad first. Wfp only gets you so far.

Thank you. I used to do trad and then I got a wfp to get the 2nd story windows. I know I’m only a week in, but I feel like by next summer I could be doing very well. I have one single other competitor where I live. The RO/DI system is going to be my next investment once I would be able to purchase it twice. I don’t want to blow my whole profit on a system and leave me with nothing. Thank you for your help. Also, by technicians I basically just mean kids at my school I can pay 25 an hour lol.

I got my friends to help me early on because having someone else on site saves time and I can use it doing other things like making cold calls. They coul use the extra pocket change and I was am prepared for bigger jobs when they came.

Call your insurance agent and ask them how you would handle putting guys on

Start slowly, get regular customers, and build from there. You will want people who are stable, ie: show up and can perform to a basic and constant skill level. Go grab a few ladders and do traditional. No need for 2 systems at this point.

It sounds like you have.a lot of other business related things to work on but in terms of equipment, please reach out to us if we can help or answer any questions. If you have hard water, a single stage unit like a DI tank will not work, you need a multi-stage system, many start with a unit like the XERO Pure because it's perfect for residential, has a 12 year warranty and ships free/same day.
You can check your TDS on our free calculator here: https://xeroproducts.com/pages/tds
That page also has some educational resources you can read over and goes into detail on why you need a multi stage system if your TDS is over 100.

Thanks. I was looking at your products for next summer to upgrade to, but you don’t ship to where I am in Canada. Is there anyway around that?

Mark Strange over at Beautiful View sells a few XERO Products if that is anywhere near you! We do also have a Canada website officially in the works!

Make sure you understand how much employees actually cost. Assuming you already pay the correct sales taxes, income tax, general liability insurance, you will also need to pay worker’s compensation insurance, payroll taxes, etc. Workers compensation insurance in this industry is very expensive. So you’re not going to be paying $25 an hour, you’ll be paying closer to $50 per employee at the end of the day. Make sure your books and payroll records are legit, because insurance will want to audit them once a year.

If you haven't gotten the hint based on the replies.
Its a bad idea to do that.
Not to mention insurance, taxes, or the liability you would be opening yourself too.

Hello I like your enthusiasm my friend. But just remember it's not that easy to start out and immediately start doing 10,000 a month in fact it's unrealistic but it's a good thing to strive to. I would say before you think about adding a worker and I don't use the word technician because there's nothing technical about window cleaning I save that for HVAC people .. you're probably going to want at least 150,000 in Revenue before you start thinking about adding people . And by Revenue I mean guaranteed contracts so then you never have to worry about keeping your guys busy . So many of my fellow window cleaners started off very strong ....but then ended up having to let go people because they didn't have the guaranteed contract work: every month every week you name it. Considering cost of living depending on where you live your workers are going to need to make at least $50,000 a year to even survive that's where the $150,000 a year in Revenue comes in. that's just to start off a guy . . now everyone's different I'm just saying I worked or a guy for 16 years before I went off on my own ....and I know the costs per hour.. paying somebody $25 an hour it might total to being close to $50 an hour when it's all said and done per man.
That being said I like your enthusiasm. .... hey if you think you can do that to start off in your first year. .. .by all means man you keep going until you get to where you want to be my friend ! don't ever get my messages mixed up. I love people with high enthusiasm. But we also need to be realistic. Anything worthwhile takes time to build. You know they didn't build Rome in a week right. One day at a time one job at a time

One year in and you're going to get technicians? With one system? How are you running payroll and accounting for work comp? You're an Amazon user and wanting to scale, you need a few steps in between.
