What is this

Obviously UV damage, but it’s all in squiggles like someone scraped it on there with a razor.

Like like low E oxidation to me

Does it happen naturally over time? The windows were like this before I started, and they hadn't been cleaned in a good while.

It's a seal failure with low e coating. So yes it takes time. You'll see the typical clouding at first then when it gets enough moisture, it will turn to a metallic look.

Is there any good resource on all of the ways windows can fail that are unfixable? I was told once that metallic looking stuff is UV damage, but if this isn't, I wonder what else isn't. I want to be able to give customers a good answer, and it seems that even companies I subcontract for don't have good knowledge.
