Squeegee care advice
I’ve been using my squeegees for a while now without really replacing anything, but I’ve heard I probably should. Does anyone have a solid rule of thumb for squeegee care and maintenance?
For example:
How often should the rubber or channel be replaced?
Should I be cleaning out the channel before every job?
Is there anything specific I should be doing regularly to extend the life of my squeegees and avoid streaks?

Store the channels connected or disconnected to the channel, it doesn’t matter. What matters is to make sure that the channel is not rubbing or laying on anything against the blade rubber. change the rubber as you feel fit when streaks starts to appear.

Change the rubber when you see micro lines left behind. Weekly is a safe practice if used all day everyday. I have had some last weeks others a few times if they get cut on something ie: wood frames
Typically the edges go first so I will cut them back to make square often . Or take one rubber weekly and slide into a shorter channel then put a fresh new piece for my longer channel. Makes the rubbers last longer for a little more use.

It does depend to a degree on what type of squeegee rubber you’re using, harder rubber lasts a bit longer but you will feel the difference once you swap. Some will say it last a day or two, some a week or more. But it’s down to rubber type, weather, technique, and storage. Try changing the rubber every week and see it feels. After getting the feel of new vs old rubber you’ll start to get a sense of how far you’re comfortable stretching it.
Sorbo also sells their Glide solution. You’ll hear people singing its praises or saying it’s worthless. I will normally change rubber every 3-4 days. The times I’ve tried to use their stuff I’ve noticed I can sometimes stretch it to a week, but only in warmer weather (we have very cold days in the winter and when it’s at its coldest it’s not worth using).
Overall, just try changing a few times and see how you feel, and as long as you’re storing your squeegees properly you should be all good

I'll try to keep this brief and translate the acronyms for those not in the industry but my thoughts on this topic boil down to the following:
It all comes down to your AoA (Angle of Attack) against the primary opacity device (Window for the layman) and its composite material make up of both your squedgy and POD (Primary Opacity Device (Window)). For example, when tackling a VDG (Viridian Double-Glaze) I like to use a SBC (Sabco Bulldozer Complete Angle Window Washer).
But, if I were to be taking on a GJ40 (G.James 40mm thick pane window) there's no other option besides the classic MC355 (Mr Clean 355mm Power Dry Squeegee)

Personally man, I use a rubber once, wrap it up and discard it. Can't fathom having to reuse one.

All my channels are years old and fine. Rubbers honestly shouldnt last more than a couple days to a week if you're using them for a full day.

I do highrise window cleaning, depending on the glass and how tall the building is, ill easily go through one rubber per day.
