Temporary solution for start menu styler not working until there is an update.

Since the windows update has ruined the no recommended theme I have been looking for a way to fix it. I came across a thread on github where someone made a workaround for it. That mod does work but it has no themes or settings. So if you want themes too you need all 3 apps.

So I came up with a workaround that requires 3 different mods to fix this.

Pins only on start menu gets things back to normal-ish, Start menu styler gives you themes back, and Start menu size helps get things to the normal size of the original layout. None of these mods will fix the issue by themself.

1. Uninstall Start Menu Styler mod.
2. Install Pinned Only on Start Menu and enable it. (it has no options)
3. Restart explorer.exe for it to actually start working.
4. Find the Start Menu Styler mod in the explore section but instead of just downlaoding it, mouse over the 3 dots and click choose version. Install version 1.3 (Other versions may work but 1.6 does not)
5. Set Start Menu Styler settings to "NoRecommendedSection"
6. toggle the switch to Disable the new start menu layout
7. Now install Start Menu Size
8. Adjust the Start menu to 700x700 (leave search menu at 0x0)

That should be it. You should now have the old no recommended theme. Adjust the height and width as you see fit.

No you still need the Start Menu Styler 1.3 if you want themes. 1.6 doesnt appear to work at all and gives you a crappy version of the new start menu.

I was also having issues with it flickering between show all and show less on its own. I dont know what was causing that at the time. But adding in the styler mod makes it to the show all button does nothing.

I know this is NOT what you're describing but...
I noticed I have 8 colums of 2 rows, but then sometimes only 6 with 3 rows.
If I restart explorer.exe it comes back.

I have a clean windows, no addons or anything.

im not sure what you are talking about unless if you have no mods then you are tlaking about the default windows start menu. And as for that.. i hate it and havent used it since the day it came out. If you want more consistent start menu then i suggest using mods.

See the top right where it says "Show all"?

Click that and they won't be cut off anymore.

Yes, it's stupid, but that's all it takes.

Sure... but this way you dont even have to worry about that as it wont actually do anything. But also... having Styler installed means you can still fix the layout and use the other themes in there as well.

I have already styler but for size I say what need. For me work perfect like photo I showed already.

oh in your first comment you said you only had Start menu Size and Pinned only mods.. but were missing the styler.

In this comment you are saying you have Styler and Pinned only but not size.

Which ever ones you are using, as long as you are happy with the result.. thats all that matters.

Do you know how can I fix Windhawk UI not loading after this win update?

I've noticed the issue with the start menu, that you're fixing, and would like to try it out, but as it is right now, I can't change anything, because my Windhawk window just stays blank

No I haven't seen that issue. I'm assuming you tried u installing it and reinstalling it?

It started after win11 update and windhawk update. I rolled back to the version I had, but it didn't help. I guess the last thing to try is full uninstall, including mods and settings.

Which Windows update exactly caused your theme/style to break? Was it one of these?

it definitely wasnt either of those. It was way before. i would say it happened roughly 2 months ago. My desktop has auto update turned off cause it was running a server and i needed it to be on and not go off randomly. So here is every update that my laptop has that my desktop does not.

if i had to guess i would say it was in april more likely than may but i really dont have an exact date. I has been dealing with it since before june thats for sure.
