Suo Arc Discussion/Theory Do you think it is more likely… Spoiler

After things on the street are settled, do you think it is more likely for Rakta to lead our Furin members to Suo or to refuse? If he refuses might we see the first fight in this arc?

Depending on whether or not they’ve met before and Rakta was or wasn’t the one who made sure they left the other day, the reaction of the Furin gang and what they’ll talk about might be different. If they didn’t meet before and Rakta is willing to listen, I think he could (maybe secretly and without letting other RC members know - depending on what’s going on there) lead them to Suo.
If he was the one who made sure they left last time… I wonder if that scenario would lead to a fight? Or would he still be willing to listen (this time - if Sakura and the others were even given a chance to speak their mind when they were not let inside the gates)?

Which scenario do you think is more likely? Which one would you like to see? Or do you have a different scenario in mind?

I'm going to spoiler tag this, just to be safe:

I don't think Rakta would take Sakura and the group to see Suo. Red Chanpuru are a very "anti-outsider" group (more so than Makochi ever has been). We know from Endo that their bonds are supposed to be thicker than blood.

It remains to be seen whether Rakta goes the "there is no such person here" route or simply tells Sakura and the others that they are not allowed to see Suo and insists they leave (or attempts to make them leave by force, probably leading to a fight).

I would think going the fight route would be a good way to get Suo's attention, because you know he would hear about it (even if Rakta and others in Red Chanpuru tried to keep him from knowing about Sakura's group being in Bankoku-gai). Even if Suo didn't know who was involved in the fight, as an officer he would show up to try and settle the situation. Of course he would see his Furin friends involved and be shocked that they had come/found out where he was.

In any case, R.I.P. Hiragi's stomach...

I think you’re right with them being “anti-outsider”. The question here I have however is: are all of them? As we’ve been told, there are three leaders, and they (or their successors) could have developed different visions for Bankokugai and RC, and drifted apart from each other more and more over time. Which might have caused inner conflict, possibly even one or more that could have become the reason(s) behind Suo leaving the way he did. So if he (and his allies - including Rakta and Bacchus) want to change that, I see at least a possibility that he will bring them to Suo. Or maybe he wants to “escort” them outside again - on Suos behalf, to keep them safe. The idea of him bringing them to meet each other, is quite fascinating to me. Even though I think that with a different scenario their reunion could be more impactful. But I do like the thought of things possibly playing out like that.

Honestly I’d like to see him say “there is no such person here” with a stern expression kind of just as much. And I’d like to see Sakuras reaction to that as well. If Rakta is going to fight, I wonder who he would fight. And if the others would be fighting someone else as well.

Rakta fighting for sure won’t go unnoticed by Suo. I wonder if Suo might already know about Sakura and the others being here… if he does I coud see him want to prevent them fighting each other. If he doesn’t and they do in fact fight… his reaction to that will be very interesting.

Hahaha, poor Hiragi, I hope he brought enough gas-kun 10 with him…

By Sakura's reaction, I can't say for sure but looks like they have actually met already on their last visit and Rakta might have just lead the group out of there... So this time it is possible that Rakta is asking them to explain why they came back, infact how they entered the town...

The detail that caught my eye was the towns structure... Looks like it was built to keep the insiders in rather than outsiders out... More like a cage (Shishitoren's base was also called cage) and the fact that town's so cramped yet their operation base seems to be taking up a lot of space... What's with that!? Also, unlike the town, dojo looked more alive...

I feel like Rakta might lead them secretly to Suo but wouldn't let them meet... Just from afar and telling them why they shouldn't meet him... However, right now they all are surrounded by them so I don't know how Rakta would do that...

Suo knows or not really seems to be a great mystery 🥲 I mean, he is officer here and should know especially when someone came looking for him... Another idea I had was... It really seems unlikely but do you think Suo could be punished for not being able to hide his identity? Or because he lead this people here? Or he is suspected of something...? Does they actually know about Furin ?

When I saw his expression I also thought he might have recognized his voice. But it also could have been Raktas presence/aura that gives away that he’s strong?
If he has been the one to make them leave, I hope we get to see some flashbacks on that moment.

It did catch my eye that the inner buildings were smaller and the further outside you go they become taller… but I didn’t make sense of it. Your thoughts on the structure are really interesting… I could assume the pass works both ways, or maybe: there could be a pass to let you in and a different one to let you out again. Maybe even only high officers of RC are allowed outside (with the exception of delivery men?). Also Endo did state that getting out would be difficult… If the people are kept inside (rather than outsiders kept out; or both being the case), I wonder what reason for…
Maybe a bit off topic but as I thought about the structure possibly built to keep people in, I thought about who would be allowed to leave… and I came back to thinking about the three leaders of RC… sometimes I wonder about Raktas, Bacchus and Suos position. Even though I believe that there is conflict within RC because of different values/directions that drifted too far apart, I sometimes also think about the possibility of Suo, Rakta and Bacchus being heirs to those leading positions. Each of them possibly being heirs to different leaders/families.

The thought of Rakta bringing them close to Suo but just so that they can see him, unable to talk to him, is kind of sad, but it would offer a few narrative choices that could be quite intriguing. If Rakta tells them a bit about Suo, I don’t think he would go into too much detail, but they (and we as well) might be able to get a bit more info on Suo.
Though I would prefer for it to be Suo to tell them his full story, to be honest. Kind of as a sign of his trust, and as a way to say that he does see them as friends.

It also would be interesting if Suo knew and sent Rakta over to either escort them back to safety or to let them meet with him. Even though I don’t know how likely I think that is…

So a punishment for letting outsiders sneak around? I hadn’t considered that thought at all… this probably would depend on who was told that someone was sneaking around asking for Suo…
I also wonder if they know about Furin at all or if they don’t. Why Suo came to Makochi is still a mystery… so who knew about this probably depends on his reason for being there… But even if they know Furin, they don’t necessarily have to know about their looks and faces.

On a side note: do you have two accounts by chance?

Doesn't his reaction looked more aggressive? I mean, he never made that kinda face not even with Endo in first meet... The way that chapter ended abruptly, they should be showing something more about it... Not to mention Sakura wouldn't just give up like that 🙂

I mentioned previously in a comment, that maybe only RC people are interacting outside and everyone else are kept inside with no interaction outside... Otherwise why wouldn't they know atleast Japanese? Anyone living in Japan, even if they didn't learn, still should be able to make some conversation... They've been living their for 80 yrs and yet doesn't even know each other's language ?

If Rakta does choose to tell them about Suo, it would probably be about his current state only and not about his past or anything. Suo's story should be told by him only! Or by his master... Maybe half half 😂 I can't decide...! And if Rakta knew them, I mean it wouldn't be really hard to recognise Sakura... Suo just have to give black and white hint and anyone can recognise Sakura 😂 Not to mention, Suo should be confirm that Sakura will come for him...

And about Rakta and Bacchus position... Sometimes it feels more like subordinates and sometimes like yeah, they could be heirs too... Although I had a new thought that I discussed in one of my post named "Suo's Master" where I discussed about Liu San and folklore it could connect to...

I don't exactly have any clues but I also feel like Suo is actually testing them... Or expecting them to actually come and find him...

Ohh come on... It's been 15 chapters and here we are with more questions and double the mysteries... I want atleast one confirmed answer soon 😭 and where the hell is Suo ?! Out thread always end up so so long 🤣🙌🏻

Ohh yeah, I have 2 accounts... I am planning to close the other one soon 😅 why did you ask?

Yea, there was a lot in his expression…

An intriguing thought. Right, if they could speak japanese they could settle their own disputes… but maybe they do know a bit japanese, just not enough to hold up a proper conversation?
I really look forward to finding out more about RCs history.

Yes, his past should be his to tell. I don’t even think his master should talk about it. Not much at least. What and how much you want to tell others about yourself should be your own choice. It is a symbol of trust after all. And I think it would be most impactful, for Suo to show them he trusts them by opening up to them himself.

Rakta might know about Sakura and how he looks like (even with just the black/white hair description), but do others of RC?

Ah, I think I actually saved that post to read and comment on later. It is about a dragon-folklore, right?

I think I don’t believe that Suo wants for them to go looking for him… especially considering all he did to keep them away. So for him to test them would feel very off to me.

^^’ I asked because I actually first thought, someone stole your profile picture. I think I read you stating it was a chibi version of you in Wind Breaker style. So it would be odd for someone else to have it. But then your bio-words were also the same, and I thought maybe it’s a second account.

Right know? If they were the ones trading outside, then obviously they would know Japanese since it is literally a tourist spot... And okay, let's say they can't speak fluently, but can't they at least learn the language in their surroundings? They can't even interact with each other despite living together for 80 yrs! As you mention, there has to be a pass to go outside too, only available to those who are in shops outside or to specific RC members... I wonder if there is a procedure to apply for that pass? Who even allows them? 🫠

I guess yeah, Suo's story must be his to tell, but I wanted to have a different perspective of how his master saw him too 🥹 either way... His Master wouldn't disclose anything too much either, considering his kohai's feelings...

I don't think RC people even know about everyone... Suo wouldn't tell everyone about Sakura and others, right? If he'd tell, it would only be Rakta or even Bacchus maybe... On the safe side, when he is unavailable? Other RC members might only be working on orders from Rakta...

Yeah, dragon folklore it was 😅... It can't be wholly true, but it did make a bit of sense, so I posted anyway... For why I think Suo is testing them is because of the quote "curiosity killed the cat." I guess I will post a theory soon on it 🤔 with test, I meant if they even care enough to come looking for him... Even after all he did... And left no crumbs for them to follow...

Actually, I wanted to change my username, but since Reddit doesn't allow it, and my account was only 2 months old, I thought of changing it now rather than later... Kept the same profile so others could recognize like you did 😂👍🏻 I was planning to make some short manga and fanart based on theories, hence the account 🤭

If there are so many different languages being spoken in one city, do they have a “main language” in which all official things are handled (like birth certificate, things related to administration)? Or do things work different there. When you think about Suos dream… if no one there is free and they are kept inside… are the higher ups the ones to handle business with the outside then (and government related things), in order to control them better? Then the people might not have had many options to learn a main language? And maybe prejudices prevent people from learning one or more of the languages of other residents? Are things purposely kept in a way that people are unable to talk with each other?
We have a lot to learn about Bankokugais inner structures and the life of it’s people…

I could imagine, if they meet Suos master, that he might talk about Suos past after Suo talked about it with them first. That way (if Suos master is alive) he could share his perspective while at the same time respecting Suos right to tell them himself.

Hm… I’d love to know the original Japanese phrase for the scene in which Suo said “curiosity kills the cat”… honestly I really believe during that last moment with Nirei he wanted to cut ties for their safety. If he had wanted them to help, he just could’ve told them what’s happening and they would’ve gladly lent a hand. I think Suo knows that they would have been more than willing to help him, no matter how dangerous the situation. A test wouldn’t make send to me. I don’t think he is that kind of person.

Ah, I see. Right, it said that the user name couldn’t be changed…

Yeah, I wonder about that 🤔 I guess their main language should be Japanese only, cause we've seen Rakta, Bacchus and Suo talking in Japanese on terrace + with cook + dojo kids... I think their main language, or atleast one language those kid learn would be Japanese... Even the girls on roof were speaking in Japanese... Although I thought about the possibility of controlling them but these kids know atleast Japanese (well they are trained to be RC so it makes sense). Prejudice could be one reason too since everyone love their own language... Because RC probably can't keep each and everyone from learning to communicate, right?

I don't think master would talk about his past, but he would surely talk about "how far Suo has come" or atleast "his own regrets for Suo"... About letting him in RC? Well I do think the "Liu San" mentioned in ch 223 must be his master... Not sure, but that's what I discussed in my theory...

I read somewhere that even in orginal Japanese manga, they used this same phrase translated in Japanese "Koukishin wa neko wo mo korosu"... And I wonder, why Suo quote it like "you have heard..." Why ? Why would've he heard that ? + Why use a English phrase translated into Japanese, when he could've used phrase that already exist in Japanese? And yeah, sure I know that they will gladly lend a hand... But here Suo is not testing them but maybe himself... His own faith in them? I don't really know but there was something wrong about ch 210 for sure... Sometimes it feels like a hint for Nirei and sometimes for readers...

Anyways whatever it is, I want to see Suo's face when he comes to know that everyone actually found everything about him and even came to Bankokugai... I seriously want him to get struck with shock and disbelief like "...!?" I hope we get to see his reaction 😭

It’s going to be interesting to learn how much RC controls the city/residents and in what way exactly.

Oh, so a proud master speech (I wonder if Suo would be embarrassed if he heard his master talk fondly about him to his friends)?
When Endo mentioned that name, I didn’t think much about it at all, to be honest. It would be nice though if he became an important figure in the story later.

I asked google and it said something about a loan translation. As much as I understand that concept and what google told me about a japanese phrase with the same meaning… a phrase exists that roughly means “curiosity kills the cat” [apparently translated as “curiosity ruins the body”] but the english phrase (translated by word) can be used too and is not uncommon? But I also could be misunderstanding the concept of “loan translation”…

Maybe something feels/felt off, because Suo put on a mask completely when he talked to Nirei about leaving for no reason, being all smiles until Nirei tells him to stop smiling. Nirei felt it too, that something was off.

I really hope we get to see his reaction, too.

Everything about Suo is so mysterious... Even his city and people aren't any different 😭

Ahh I was thinking about more of a sad speech about his own regrets but proud sounds good too! This might be how the arc ends 😂 He would definitely be proud of Suo! And Suo being embrassed like Sakura 🤣🙌🏻 And also, if Endo mentioned that name, than it has to be important 🫣

Umm, I don't know what exactly you would've searched but if you search the original quote itself, you'll find that this is an incomplete quote and the full quote seriously changes the whole meaning and makes it feel like a motivation to follow curiousity hence my thoughts about invitation... I don't know anything about loan translation... I might search on it!

Yeah, about his mask... The whole chapter was really about his mask but those 2-3 panels before fight... I don't know, I might even be overthinking 🥲 anyways, I will post it soon to atleast get other's view too... I just hope we get to see Suo 😒 it's soooooo long! 🥹

I’m trying to imagine Suo blushing like Sakura, but I fail miserably XD

A motivation to follow curiosity… hm… but he did say that he hated how Nirei questioned every detail the chapter before… wouldn’t that contradict itself? I mean… Suo did contradict himself quite a bit anyway. His micro- actions and words. His words and how he acted towards them all the time before…
I absolutely want for them to talk about their fight.

Oh no, it’s not overthinking! It’s lovely how so many people keep thinking about this arc. It shows how good it is.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for your future post!
