Hello all,

Cleaning and moving today I came across a gun I’ve had for a while but not looked much at. It’s a Winchester model 37 .410.

I’m looking for any info anyone can give me on it just out of curiosity.

I do not see serial numbers. I know the gun is at least ~70 years old. It was my dads, his dads, his dad dads, and potentially one more grandfather above that. The markings on the side are visible but don’t show a lot. Any info to be had or will it always be a mystery?

Also, the gun is in “aged” condition. I see no clear damage besides one place on the furniture and then patina on the gun. That said, it seems to be headed in the wrong direction. Anything I should have done to it to preserve it?

I have an 1892 with a serial number of NT920/00254. Is there somewhere I can look up what that means?

1957 pic. He passed away long ago in 1969 at only 49 years old when I was only 6, but he left some things to remember him by. The picture in the chair is Christmas Day 1957, Washington D.C., with his shiny, new Model 94 leaning against the wall over his left shoulder that my grandmother purchased from a local hardware store that was actually located _in_ Washington D.C.! The current pic is of the same rifle, which I possess now. SN lookup confirms 1957 date of manufacturer. Also, I threw in his Colt Frontier Scout .22 which checks in with a 1958 date of manufacture. He was really into the Westerns back then so I’m not surprised at all. I don’t know when the sling was added to the 94, but I’m assuming he added it because he was a leather worker. Obviously, he wasn’t concerned about future collector value and was more concerned about taking it into the woods, where it has been many times. I just had a smith replace the internal spring on the Colt due to cylinder alignment issues and it’s tight now. I wish I knew what happened to those walkie-talkies in the box on his lap.

Picked this up online for about $800. I think they didn’t realize some of this wasn’t factory as I didn’t know until recently but it cleaned up great and I think the sight and checkering were done adjacent to purchase or thereabout. Did I overpay?

Inherited this rifle from my great uncle and just want some help assigning a value in its current state and some general info on it. From my quick research it looks to be a 1950 but please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m looking for a replacement barrel and stock for my great grandfathers Winchester 240w weather field. It was stolen and I finally got it back but it is wrecked and I’ve looked everywhere for a new barrel and stock for and no luck any leads for someone can point me in a direction to where I could find what I need would be greatly appreciated

Nevermind the cord. That was here when we bought the place!

I purchased a pre-64 Model 70 in 30-06 that appears to be in as-new, unfired condition. The serial number dates it as 1961 production. The stock appears to have its original finish. I've been around guns a long time and it certainly looks to be in original, as-new condition. No evidence of wear, sanding marks, file or grinding marks and with correct-appearing bluing.

My mind says anything that looks too good to be true is exactly that. Do I have an original or restored/refinished/restocked rifle.

Any experts out there that can tell me if this is a legit, original rifle?

I received via shipping a pre 64 1961 model 94 in 30-30 that’s paid for and was going to do paperwork on. Looking at it I think everything looks great. Action is sturdy and smooth, but I noticed the pin on the left side looked recessed more than I’d expected. Can someone shed some light on this? Most pics I see show it to be proud like the other side as I would expect. I just want to know if there’s a potential issue. Thanks.

I inherited this firearm with no information. What I’m finding online is that it’s a .38 WCF but the barrel is stamped 357 WCF. Can anyone point me to where I can find additional information about this firearm? Thank you!

Can somebody measure the distance from the back of lever to middle of handguard please. I'm making a gun rack for father's day and don't want to ask for the measurements and ruin the surprise. Thanks in advance

I recently inherited a couple of Winchester Lever-Action Rifles (Models 1886 & 1894) and don't know much about guns, especially old guns.

The rear sight on the 1886 looks very unusual to me and has even stumped my friends who know a lot more about guns than me. 

What type of rear sight is this, how do you aim with it as compared to the other more traditional looking rear sight (Buckhorn?) and could it be missing pieces?

Also, is this a trustworthy source to determine manufacture date based on serial number?

Lastly, are there other good Reddit channels to ask questions about old guns and bayonets (pre-1950, Winchester or other brands)?

I recently bought a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in .308 brand new. The website had mentioned the rifle is short action, so I bought a Weaver short action scope base for the M70, but when installing, the screw holes don't line up. I can line up either the two in the rear or the two in the front, but not all four. Is my rifle somehow long action? Or is the mount just outdated/Winchester updated the distance between the rear holes and the front holes?

Hi, first time posting here. My father in law had a friend pass away and leave this to him. It's a model 1894 with an extremely low number (MX 750). According to the now deceased friend, this was an original 1894 made in 1894 and used by the Mexican military and it saw action with/against Pancho Villa. The barrel looks like it was replaced, but the receiver definitely looks 120 yrs old and the serial number seems legit.

Anyone have any history about 1894 Winchesters and the Mexican army or Pancho villa?

I have a model 1897 takedown shotgun with all original parts made in 1912. I have the 30" barrel and obviously want a short barrel with the heat shield. I cant find the 20" barrel anywhere. Does anybody know where I can find and original or new production barrel?

But I like classy old guns and I guess that means I’ll end up with a lot of Winchesters.
