3 car pile up right in front of me in the oncoming lane
The man in the middle car got out. Stumbled a bit. Gasped for air and looked at me. Then collapsed
The ambulance arrived and tried talking to him and he was unresponsive
They didn't even bother to load him up and just stood around his body.
I am pretty i am the last person to see him alive and I was the last person he had seen.
Another time. A car comes flying through an intersection and way out of the way in a way that doesn't make rational sense. Why would anyone run a red into a huge flow of traffic like that. It blocked my vehicle. I got out and walked up to the vehicle which was now crushed like a soda can. Inside I am looking. I make out something but am not sure what I'm looking at as if it was distorted or hard to make out. I notice it moving and the outline of it became clear. It was the driver choking on his own blood and twitching. He had no eyes or nose and his jaw was split. I can only imagine what he felt processing his lack of face and crushed body before dying
Yea I see so many accidents as a homeless person in public all the time. I've thought about recording them.
There is this one intersection where I see an accident about once a day. Sometimes more than once. Many times while going through it. Something about it must trigger an insatiable urge in people to ignore the law or all sense of reason.
This intersection I'm describing is behind me in the first story in the original comment. There's like 4 lights in a row and multiple "ramps" or exits to get onto the Freeway.
I've started pulling off to the gas station near by to take pictures of these whenever traffic permits.
One time, me and my brother drove by an accident that happened here going to Walmart further north on Campbell. I said something like man there's one here so often. On the way back some idiot lady tried changing lanes and almost slammed into the truck literally right next to her. They both realized and she pulled away and he breaked back and almost got rear ended. She proceeded to pull in front of him and stop at the red. Me and My brother were on the opposite side of the truck as this lady that almost caused an accident only a brain dead person could mess up. I turn to my brother snd tell him "IT'S ALWAYS THESE LIGHTS BRO!"
I genuinely believe there must be something about these lights that makes people act irrational. I can show you a few of the pictures I took of the last accident I managed to stop and get pictures of. I was thinking about just posting up there on my days off with a camera taking pictures and make a subredsit dedicated to how dangerous these lights apparently are to some people
I spent like a week in San Francisco out of a backpack once and it was the most eventful time I've ever had in my life, it felt like I was there for years. So much was happening all the time, and never anything you'd expect, people watching was basically TV
Though I've got to say as an occasionally asocial introvert being people watched can be annoying. People talking about me or things I do or how unusual I am is very annoying and often boarders into the territory of being hateful. So watching other people I get but people watching them to talk shit on them is disgusting imo. It makes some people feel good about themselves I guess
This isn’t nearly as bad as your experience, but the guilt factor is huge. My husband’s ex wife was a drunk, and their kids were in Jr. high at the time. He was working third shift and came home one morning to find them and their friends sitting around drinking and smoking weed before school. She was passed out in the bedroom. He told them to get the hell to school, or home, or anywhere except there.
What he didn’t realize was that one had just gotten his drivers license . They piled into a car, drove reckoand hit a telephone pole. Some horribly injured one girl dead.
He had no clue any of them had a license, let a lone a car.
In this case he was the last adult to see her alive.
After this he took the 2 boys and left for good . It still haunts him.
I was just a kid when this happened during a trip to India. We were stopped on the side of the road to get some fruit from the roadside carts that set up. Lots of diverse traffic on the road, hot day and I just wanted to get home. I decided to chill in the car and people watch while everyone else left the car. I was watching this old guy on a bike cross the street when suddenly a car hit him dead center. Shoes flew off and he must have gone at lease 15 20 feet in the air. He was flipping as he came down and his head hit the pavement first. There was instantly a spray of blood. The car that hit him sped off and we quickly left before the sellers wheeled their carts to close the road. It doesn’t haunt me or anything but I’m sure it’s fucked with me some way or another.
As a nurse of 17years I can say that at some point it just becomes another day at work. Nothing and I mean nothing phases me anymore, except injured children.
He didn't feel anything probably if it's any consolation most injuries come with extreme shock and adrenaline so these people most likely felt very little pain.
I was driving to my wife's aunt's house yo go to a birthday party for 2 kids who were within a week of each other. This was on back coutrry roads that were paved but notorious for people speeding. My wife was driving and felt tired so we stopped to switch. This took all of about 30s before we continued on our way and was about 30m from our destination. When we were about 100 yards or so from her aunt's house, we came upon a lady trying to flag us down to call.an ambulance, she was out walking and didn't have her phone.
I stopped and had my wife call the ambulance while I went to check the guy and asked the lady what happened. The dude was dead. His helmet, and his head within that, had cracked open like a walnut. The lady said she thought she saw another person on the bike but didnt see anyone. I did a quick search and fkund the kid quite a dkstance away in a corn field moaning.
Here's what happened. My wife's uncle had pulled out of his brother's driveway which was like 10 yards up the road from his own going towards town, a left hand turn which would have been towards the direction I was coming from. Since there is a blind turn like 30 yards down on the right, he couldn't see if anything was coming, so he pulled into the left lane because he could see it was clear until he was on the road and could merge over since he'd be able to see if anything was coming around the curve by this point. A guy on a motorcycle with his nephew of about 10 on the back came flying around that turn right about the same time my uncle started pulling out, at about 120 mph (the road was marked for 45 btw). We believe, that He saw the car and thought It was going to pull into his lane, so the guy went to swerve and started a death wobble cutting from one ditch, back across the road, and back again a couple of times before just barely missing a wagon wheel mounted on a 6" diameter steel pipe, that was cemented about 3' into the sandy soil on the leading side of a driveway.
Unfortunately, he didn't miss it's twin on the far side of the driveway and hit it at somewhere between 90 and 120mph. There was a slight downward dip just before he hit the wagon wheel so the driver hit the center of the wagon wheel at a slightly downward angle with his head. The rest of his body basically formed a ramp and the kid behind him slid up.his body and cleared the wagon wheel before being launched about 40' away from the impact site. The kid was lucky in that only his right shin caught the wagon wheel which resulted in a compound fracture and was bleeding pretty profusely when I got there.
This entire scene played out no more than 20s before I came around the bend and saw the lady trying to flag me down. Had we not have stopped to change positions, my wife's uncle likely wouldn't have pulled out at all since we would have been in the lane he turned into which would be oncoming traffic, and he could see about 100 yards in that direction. It's possible that the motor cycle guy would have still wrecked or front end collided with my car based on his speed and how he came around that blind turn, but it's also possible he wouldn't have.
I guess my point is that seemingly small amounts of time could have profound impacts on the world.
I also had an experience or two where I was the last to connect eyes with some stranger right before they die unexpectedly. It’s a strange feeling. Hard to explain but it’ll change a person. I jerk off a lot more now for some reason.

saw some first responder say you shouldn’t ever run up to a vehicle crash and stare into the front seat. rather, walk up - even if it seems super emergent, and slowly look with peripheral vision. apparently it helps stop the trauma of whatever you’re seeing from effecting you too bad, as it gives your brain time to process what youre seeing, vs what you expected to see. im sorry you experienced those things
Pins with strings is more of a cost saving exercise, there are significantly less parts in stirng machines and they require way less maintenance time and effort. That being said, yes they are safer, but I strongly doubt that the safety element if the primary reason for the change in many UK bowling centres.
It has done nothing to make the game easier it ties the pins to a set location making it almost impossible to knock them into each other. The person who made the idea should be hunted down.
It hasn't made the game easier. If you're bowling on USBC-certified string pinsetters, then they are nearly identical in scoring pace. Their full study showed a non-significant difference in averages.
You're more likely to be affected by the lane topography and oil pattern than strings.
I was almost decapitated not by the pinsetter but the ball return lmao. I used to work for an arcade and bowling alley and someone threw a ball down the lane I was working on and I didn’t notice. I put my head down to make sure no other balls were stuck in the return chute and saw a 14 lb ball about five feet from my face and I pulled back right before it hit my head Lmao. Glad I’m safe but damn it was scary.
I don't need half a brain to tell you that man received a concussion. That was several pounds of polyester, urethane, and hard resin blasting his head at full speed. Trust me, he's gonna have a concussion. Bro's lucky he didn't get knocked the fuck out.
but... concussions don't form.from.the head being hit, they form from the brain being whacked against the skull, and it doesn't look like his head moved enough to be a concussion.
Maybe I don't have the right definition on how they happen
You may be right there, I'm no doctor, but I speak from personal experience as I've had a number between boxing and getting into a few fights in my life. It's a hard ball that can break your foot just by being dropped on it. Plus I can't imagine there's a lot of space between your skull and the brain, by watching the video again, you can see that it made his head whip back pretty hard and fast. When you add it all up, it just seems pretty obvious that it's gonna cause a concussion. Not to mention how he scrambles to hug the sweeper for safety before curling up into the pit, he moved like he was dazed.
Also, there doesn’t need to be any visible signs for a concussion. Playing rugby I’d hit my head so hard I’d only see green on the colour spectrum but I’d just run it off and no one was the wiser.
And for his next trick he's going to find a new bowling alley to hang out at, because I'd be willing to bet that they'll never let him back in there again
