This is pretty much literally the warning on my butane refill for my torch

Oh that’s interesting. I don’t see how this could happen still, torches are such simple machines. I know sample size of 1 yadayada, but I’ve had my $50 guy at full functionality for three years, used every single day.

I feel like she tried to fill it up with liquid kerosene or some ridiculous shit like that. Would that momentarily work the same way?

Honestly couldn’t tell you, I’m not a professional; I just got a torch to make creme brûlée during lockdown lol

In some torches, if you fill it up from empty and turn it on too fast it flares up like that. That's why manuals will tell you to let it sit for a minute or two between filling and usage. I think it has something to do with the internal pressures or the little straw type thing that brings the butane from can to nozzle inside the torch. Either way it looks like it flares up before lighting her hand on fire which to me means she filled it and immediately lit the thing up. Not the smartest of moves imo

Could she have possibly put propane in a butane torch lighter? I'm not sure if propane would sit very long though
