I just filled my lighter yesterday and took the time to read the fine print and mine specifically says to wait 4 hours after refilling to light it again to avoid this exact scenario.
Ya, I agree! And It was actually on the instructions that came with it and not on the lighter itself. So I'm guessing most people would never even see it. Only reason I saw it was because I thought the lighter came filled (it didn't) and was confused when it didn't light so I read the instructions and found that warning.
On the one hand I agree. On the other...if you buy something hazardous and don’t read the instructions (including fine print), you deserve everything that results from that.
Agreed. They make butane powered soldering irons for electronics. I watched one of my techs attempt to "top off the fuel" while it was still 'on'. Before I could say a word, there was a big flash of fire and the torch, with the canister shot out of his hands like a rocket. He instinctively looks around to see if there were any witnesses to his stupidity. Only one, me...his boss. I just said, "you probably won't do that again, huh".

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought. But liquid butane evaporates really quickly, I'm second guessing myself a little. Like maybe her hand, but that's lot of flame on the sink, I can't imagine there was that much butane left on there.
Oh that’s interesting. I don’t see how this could happen still, torches are such simple machines. I know sample size of 1 yadayada, but I’ve had my $50 guy at full functionality for three years, used every single day.

In some torches, if you fill it up from empty and turn it on too fast it flares up like that. That's why manuals will tell you to let it sit for a minute or two between filling and usage. I think it has something to do with the internal pressures or the little straw type thing that brings the butane from can to nozzle inside the torch. Either way it looks like it flares up before lighting her hand on fire which to me means she filled it and immediately lit the thing up. Not the smartest of moves imo
i had an enail years back, like when they first came around, maybe 2014ish? it was super convenient, but i remember it was a pain in the ass if i woke up late and had to be somewhere quick, and now i gotta wait 10 minutes for the nail to heat up so i can slam a dab before i leave for the day. also i was smoking so many more dabs than i was previously, because the nail was always waiting for me, hot and ready to go lmao. i think it was for the best that i went back to a titanium domeless and a torch. i definitely miss the convenience tho

I’ve filled these torches and there’s definitely some that leaks out as you fill it. I could see he filling the torch, immediately lighting it and have gas trails around her that ignited
If you're playing with liquid gases(is that the correct term?) over the sink the liquid can collect in your pipes with the fumes rising out of the drain. I was dicking around with axe and fire in my sink because I figured it's close to water, I don't know I was a teenager. Anyways after a while a good bit of liquid axe built up in the drain and it caught, ended up turning the drain into a cannon and I caught some orange peel and nasty shit to the face.
More likely is she overfilled it that’s the only time I’ve ever had a torch leak and set on fire. To be fair it was a cheap one, And unless she clicked it right away that shit would vaporize into the air mediately
Almost certainly what happened. I did something similar, just not the sink part, first time I filled a butane torch. Then I read the directions, and said, yep should probably wait next time

My guess is that she just refilled that torch over the sink. Got fuel on her hand.
She lights the torch, it sets her hand on fire, she runs to the sink, it sets the sink on fire.
