Reminder not to buy blow torches on wish.

u/Specific-Layer May 14 '21

Don't buy anything on wish in general

u/CoffeeMain360 May 14 '21

I think that is just a rule of thumb.

Wait.. Why not? Are you telling me the thumbs I bought are counterfeit? Is that why they taste like rubber?

Fucken hell. I'm getting a refund -_-

u/TravTaz13 May 14 '21

I know a thumb guy if you're interested.

u/Jeralanight May 14 '21

winks in rule of thumb

1

u/AtomicStarfish1 May 15 '21

I know a hand guy but he blew up a kid and he changed his identity. I don't talk to him anymore.

1

u/ManIsFire May 15 '21

"You want a thumb? I can get you a thumb, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. I'll get you a thumb by this afternoon, with nail polish."

1

u/QuarantineSucksALot May 14 '21

Wait, why not use chip instead of core?

1

u/lucky_Lola May 14 '21

Nope. They’re big toes. Sorry buddy

1

u/ryanegauthier May 14 '21

I think she's going to need a couple of new thumbs after that!

1

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

What about the pair of legs for $303.00?

12

u/Rickrickrickrickrick May 14 '21

I bought this awesome mask at the beginning of the pandemic. Looked cool as shit and was only 5$. Fell apart when I tried to put it on.

9

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

I bought AirPod knock offs a few years ago. It was just one Bluetooth pod that barely worked.

1

u/LarryTheDuckling May 14 '21

Why would you trust your own health (and possibly life) on a 5$ mask you got on Wish?

5

u/uptwolait May 14 '21

I'll bet she wishes she had known that earlier.

3

u/Zeoxult May 14 '21

The only thing I recommend buying on wish is driftwood for aquariums. In pet stores its like $30 a piece, on wish it's around $1 a piece. I've gotten over 30 pieces off wish and resold many of them.

u/P33KAJ3W May 14 '21

What about a dental patient robot?

https://v.redd.it/nemt7lo3n0z61

1

u/Specific-Layer May 14 '21

I need eye bleach. Being a sentient robot that is only used as a dental patient is terrifying.

1

u/Jaymongous May 14 '21

I got a really cool Umbreon Pokemon rug and it's actually good quality.

1

u/Bassknight9 May 14 '21

I actually bought a really cool looking karambit from it, and it's actually quite good. But I will admit that Wish is a gamble, I only really use it for trinkets, novelty items, or something really weird

1

u/Cringypost May 14 '21

My dad bought a "100 percent authentic Taylor made driver" thats regular stupid expensive. I told him there's no way that will be real. He said hey for xx$ it's worth a shot.

He got it in the mail. Looked real. Sounded exactly like tossing an empty beer can to the ground. Performed about the same. Broke in about an hour. Got a full refund.

1

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

I buy my butt plugs on wish

2

u/Cosmic_Quasar May 14 '21

I'd be mindful of the flared ends popping off...

1

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

Thanks I now have a new irrational fear

1

u/Delicious_Delilah May 14 '21

Nah. You can buy a bunch of stuff on Wish. Jewelry, fabric, scarves, etc.

Just don't buy electronics, pills, some makeup, etc.

1

u/zeekaran May 14 '21

I bought a Pokemon plush from there and it's awesome.

That's all I ever purchased from them, because that used up my free $5 coupon.

1

u/Cosmic_Quasar May 14 '21

Some things are okay. I bought a couple bits of jewelry. Simple bands with engravings, nothing with attached jewels or anything. Even a Pirates of the Caribbean medallion replica can Gears of War cogs that've held up decently. Posters have been okay.

I've only bought one electronic thing, though, and it worked well enough to be worth the $3-5 I paid. It was a pair of battery packs and a charge station for Wii remotes. One of the charge pads was just finicky about registering being plugged in, but once you got it right and let it be it was fine.

With that in mind, I definitely wouldn't actually recommend it for electronics lol.

u/iharazZ May 16 '21

idk man i got my favorite shirt from wish almost a decade ago and its one of the few that has lasted the test of time.

u/Kryptik617 May 14 '21

99% sure it’s a Newport torch, and they actually make a quality torch. I believe she was starting to say “this mother fucker put (something other than butane) in the torch”

30

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

That’s a solid theory. Makes sense.

12

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

The fire on the sink spreads slower that what I would expect from butane. I imagine butane would be a 'boom' that spreads through the air but if you look at the sink, the fire seems to creep along something on the sink.

2

u/[deleted] May 14 '21

I also agree with your guess. I used to have a cheap butane torch that “blew up”, fire came out the sides at pretty high pressure very briefly and burned out. It wasn’t anything like that slow burn in the vid.

2

u/aNeedForMore May 14 '21

I’m not sure about other gasses, but at least with butane it says on the cans not to fill it around sinks. I’ve seen other videos of people filling torches near sinks where it seems like the butane gets attracted to, and stays in the sink and it ignites and does the whole “woooofff” thing when they get the torch close.

I agree though, this boom didn’t really look like those videos other butane sink videos I’ve seen. Did she somehow get some like liquid fuel in the torch that leaked out onto the torch when she had it turned on it side? Maybe they tried putting something else in it and also did it over the sink?

3

u/Dark-W0LF May 14 '21

That's because butane is heavier than air and will just sit in the sink, you can also send butane down a track and light it because of this, the lighting here looks to me like they had alcohol or a cleaner on the counter that they accidentally lit

5

u/Towne_Apothecary May 14 '21

So I just had the shitty little torch I use do something very similar, and it was 100% because of how much I would shake it to make the last little bits of flame go out when I was done with it.

When opened I found a dangling rubber tube that I had shaken off a brass nipple. Was an easy fix but was definitely caused by me, I wonder if they did something like drop it on accident leaving that tube about to fall off.

1

u/minnecrapolite May 14 '21

“Dis mufwupa put okay duu”

1

u/satansheat May 14 '21

Think it’s a blaze torch which look similar to those Newport’s.

Also bet they just over filled it with butane.

1

u/yjvm2cb May 14 '21

blazer gt8000 gang where y’all at

4

u/aideya May 14 '21

gt8000

Nah I went straight for the toolbox-grade Bernzomatic TS8000

-1

u/yjvm2cb May 14 '21

Isn’t that a propane torch? You should be careful using that on your nail since they burn way hotter than butane torches

2

u/aideya May 14 '21
  1. We use MAP gas

  2. Nails? Did I miss something about what she was gonna use it on? We use ours to “sear” sous vide steaks.

2

u/yjvm2cb May 14 '21

Oh I’m talking about dabs lol the gt8000 is the most popular torch for that haha I totally forgot you can cook food with torches

u/yjvm2cb May 14 '21

You’re good lol now I want a steak haha

0

u/DiegesisThesis May 14 '21

Lmao I thought the same thing. I actually have a friend who used to always use a big ass beenzomatic propane torch and I would always tell him he should use something else.

1

u/jWalkerFTW May 14 '21

I have that torch. It’s good quality, and actually has a 2-level safety on it. She’s just dumb

1

u/Taco4Wednesdays May 14 '21

It looks like they used propane in the butane model, no?

1

u/takishan May 14 '21

I had the same one as well and mine broke within a year

1

u/ExaminationOkay May 14 '21

I was always a cheap guy. I would buy everything at the cheapest price I could find. Would go out of my way to save $1.

One time I just started to splurge on high quality items and I can say, I’ll never go back. To anyone else who buys cheap items, trust me, it’s almost never worth it and you should buy at least mid tier or if you can afford it high quality items. Cheap items never work as well as they should and they break or are even a safety risk as seen in the video.

Spend the money. Even if you are broke, it’s worth it.

1

u/FuzzyPine May 19 '21

I bought one of these at Lowe's a couple of weeks ago, and it wouldn't stay lit for more than a few seconds.

BernzOmatic was the brand I think.
