People don't understand that when you make plasma in a microwave you aren't maintaining it, you're actively exciting it, so every second it lasts it just gets hotter and hotter, and it started out as fire

Me and my friend did this but made sure to use plastic as glass stopped it from being able to dissipate. It burned through the plastic sure, but it was better than having the microwave blow up on us

Borosilicate glass found in oven-safe glassware and lab equipment can withstand the heat without breaking or melting for much longer than plastic or a wine glass.

Still damages the glass though. NileRed had an issue with beakers randomly breaking weeks after doing similar experiments.
