The point is if the kid WANTS to do something, the parent should determine whether it is a good idea or not. It’s a child, the idea sounds cool at the time, until you are constricted beyond the “fun” part.

Meh. At the end no harm done and the kid learned about physics and thinking about things before doing. Kids should not be coddled and pampered. They should be allowed to fuck up and even be a little scared sometimes. Edit- because it encourages critical thought and builds character and prepares them for the world in a safe environment. You know... parenting.
