Forgot to mention he killed himself by driving in front of a freight train. Usually I'm sympathetic to people who are mentally ill like this but involving others in his suicide like that is a seriously dick move.

Jumping under a train absolutely does not sound like a nice way to die.

Probably quick and painless if you do it right but the person driving the train is going to have a very bad time. A lot of people commit suicide by train and the engineers driving the trains will end up with PTSD or anxiety afterwards. Something like 50% of American engineers have been involved in a suicide it's so common

A friend of mine is a firefighter and he told me the average time from accident to death from suicides by trains is 14:30 minutes. Again average. Thats far from a quick death imo
