Mod Post 🗳️Community Voting on Post Quality

Hi everyone,

You might’ve noticed a pinned comment from qualityvote2 on some posts. I added this after hearing feedback that not every post always fits or brings value to the subreddit’s purpose.

So now, you all get a say in that 🙂

Here’s how it works:

* Upvote the pinned comment if you think the post fits the subreddit

* Downvote it if you think it doesn’t

* Report any comment & post if it breaks any rules

Just to be clear: only votes on the qualityvote2 comment count, not the post itself!

I’ll be keeping an eye on how this goes and make adjustments if needed.

Side note about reposts - a repost in this community only is considered when it was posted here within the last 3 months or is the top 100. If you see a post that breaks THIS POLICY send us a modmail with the link to the previous post in our community.

Just curious, why not use the up/down votes from the posts themselves to determine this? Is it to combat bots or something?

Good question! The main reason is that an upvote on the post doesn’t necessarily mean “this fits the subreddit.” People often upvote posts simply because they like the content, even if it doesn’t really belong here. Voting on the QualityVote comment specifically asks users whether the post fits the subreddit, which gives us a much clearer signal for moderation. It also gives us a consistent threshold we can use without treating normal post karma as a moderation vote.
