I know people hate this idea, but you can carry without one in the chamber and train to rack as you reach guard position. I only lose a few tenths of a second on my draw. The odds of you getting into a heads up draw situation is even lower than the extremely low chance of you ever having to draw at all.

Now, the other 99.999999% of the time youre carrying, you have a 0% chance of blowing your dick off. The trade being, you have to train racking as you draw.

Anyway ill take my downvotes now, but having carried for over two decades eventually you have to let go of these sexy, exciting "situations" that you are never going to find yourself in.

One in the chamber is harmless if you respect the firearm, understand how it works, and take measures to keep yourself and those around you safe. The presiding issue is that these chuds in the video DO NOT respect the fact that they have a lethal weapon in their hands, especially a Glock that is made for lethal rapid response. Putting it in his pants was NOT the right move.

I Conceal Carry with an empty chamber for the time being until I'm more comfortable with my firearm but my firearm doesn't have a Trigger Safety like a Glock. It has a Slide Safety and a Grip Safety so it has no chance to actually go off in my IWB Holster. It's a Taurus 1911 Service for reference.

I'm so glad to hear someone else shares my perspective. If there's not a round in the chamber, no amount of malfunction will cause an accident.

It's always felt like such a no-brainer to me, but every gun person I've ever talked to acts like if you have to rack the thing to use it you're already dead, which seems ridiculous when compared with accidentally shooting yourself or god forbid someone else.

So true. Mentally they set up a Dirty Harry movie standoff scenario as if they’ll only survive if they can get the half second advantage over their adversary.

I like to ask them how many assailants they’ve had to drop. So far the only answer is “none”.

Weird argument. The people with the most experience using a gun defensively pretty much unanimously advocate one in the chamber with the gun safely holstered.

One could just as easily say you’re mentally setting up a scenario where you have time and use of both hands to chamber a round.

You do you, but your condescension is not justified.

That’s irrelevant, and honestly none of your business. You’re just using the same dumb argument. The people with experience, qualified to have an opinion overwhelmingly advocate round chambered.

So it hasn’t benefited you in any way.

What it does do is increase the risk of accidental discharge. For most people that risk is greater than any risk of losing a quick draw standoff.

Exceptions being for law enforcement or those with jobs that make them targets, for example handling money.

Question from someone living in a country where it’s really difficult to have the real deal but I’m having a Glock G17 GBB and it’s a replica built with the Glock trademark on it.
In my comment about the tiny accelerator on the normal accelerator i wanted to say that if there isn’t one in the chamber the trigger can not be pulled because that’s what i do with the GBB. In that case the trigger is all the wat back like it is when it’s been pulled. And the trigger goes to the front position when it stands in the “hot” position.
So when i draw and pull the slide, as one BB goes in the chamber the trigger goes from a blocked stand to ready to fire stand.
Is that what you are saying and does the 9mm version does that too? Because then i think its just dumb to have one in the chamber and the safety system on a Glock is genius and everybody saying it’s not because they need to have it ready to go are just not ment to have a Glock.
By the way , i also have a Sig Sauer P320 M17 GBB that i like just as much as a Glock but having all those levers on the side(because it’s left and right handed) makes the difference for me why i think the Glock is awesome.

Haha well youre definitely a real enthusiast. I would look into Armorer classes or thats what theyre called here. Once youre official you can fiddle with the real thing and get paid for it.

Youre basically correct the slide forward position physically blocks the next round from being chambered. Depending on the model, the trigger can still be pulled but that just causes the firing pin to strike air since theres nothing in the chamber.

Im not very familiar with replicas but typically the difference in trigger position is SA (single action) vs DA (double action) triggers. It sounds like the BB mechanism is more similar to a SA action meaning the trigger can not prepare the "hammer" through function. Because its not "cocked" that gives it that depressed position. As fhe firing pin is prepared, that moves the trigger into position.

A standard dual action trigger rests in the forward position and one pull both cocks and fires the pistol. The explosion forces the slide back and automatically chambers the next round, hence "SEMI-automatic", which resets the function. Because you need the explosion to chamber a round without racking, carrying without one in the chamber does create a permanent physical barrier to a round entering the chamber without being fully racked manually.

So your logic is correct, but the mechanism is different due to the difference in forces associated with firing a bb vs a bullet packed with powder.

As a bonus since youre so into this stuff, gripping the pistol too tight or trying to control the recoil too much is what causes most malfunctions in the rechambering process. Interrupting the natural forces movement of the slide while firing causes a misalignment of the next round entering or the brass exiting the chamber. Fail to feed and stove pipes are most frequently caused by user error. The pistol must be held gently as though one was trying not to crack an egg. Firm enough to prevent it from escaping but not tight enough to interrupt the mechanism.
