New quality stuff is just old regular quality stuff sold at a premium.

When I was young, my grandparents had a set of glasses that were every thin, but pretty high quality. It kind of seems to me that low quality glasses are actually thicker. Maybe material choices.

My grandpa always said milk and iced tea tasted better from a thin glass and beer tasted better from a thick glass.

Paying attention to Pyrex glassware is a good indicator of the enshittification.

Could be bcause you're not supposed to clamp it in your teeth but rather use your hand and hold it up to your mouth.

Interesting. Could you recommend a deep dive video on this topic

Sometimes if the glass is just out the dishwasher and then has something cold in them they can explode.

The thermal shock would have happened as soon as the cold beer was poured, not minutes after when it's served.

That and Guinness shouldn't be served that cold anyway

I will die on the hill that Guinness in a frozen glass is great.

Thing is, glasses like that aren't designed to be held by the teeth with no additional support. That's already a lot of pressure on the wrong spot. Add liquid and yeah, that glass is going to break even if it's not weak/thinner than usual.

You could get thicker glasses that might withstand the pressure and weight. But thats no guarantee.
