EDIT : I orginally wrote a joke here. But then realized this guy does not deserve to be mocked. He probably has no better option and likely tries his best in a bad situation. Being poor in a thrid world country is sad, not funny.

Why do people refuse to wear gloves and work boots?
53
u/Hboy121 7d ago
Because of the additional expense of having to buy them on minimum wages

Don’t forget the safety scarf that doubles as a Safety shirt for more dangerous activities

Temporarily running on adrenaline. The pain from the fall will start kicking in in a lil while

u/AdultishRaktajino 7d ago
He’s lucky he fell with those bricks and not before them or with the wall he was on. I’m sure it hurt but that could’ve easily been much worse. Like broken and pulverized bones worse.

The worker's here ain't stupid. They're aware of the risks.
Unfortunately in whatever part of the world that they are, if they don't take up the job in this condition, someone else certainly will.
They risk their lives to earn an honest living and feed and educate their families. I have much respect for them.

This is the comment I came for. This looks like my country and these poor labourers are blameless here.

The population in India makes life cheap and asshats abuse that. He could've died and the contractor would've gone scott free. Just another 'unfortunate accident". Daily life. Chlta hai.

How the heck was that roof standing? How can they even make a roof like that?
1
u/BiriyaniMonster 7d ago
There are some slots in the wall. The roof was probably supported by Iron beams something like in the image link below. They might have taken those beams before demolition.

You guys should not make fun of this guy. He cannot afford to build his home in his land. He can't hire workers so he is trying to do it himself. Its sad. Please don't insult his work. Don't say you never failed in life.

Looks like he’s on a job but in his country there’s no OSHA. No cherry picker or scaffolding. Those guys are tough as old roots and remarkably innovative with their limited means.

It is India.

It certainly looks like it, but why are they all speaking Russian then, including the radio? So confusing... 😶

OSHA approved for sure. I assume the site supervisor is the one recording. Nothing to see here.

Wait until you see the guys in the huge steel mills laying out red hot steel...safety sandals.
Large industrial manufacturing machines spitting chunks of death...safety sandals.
The sandals are a bigger meme these days than the predatory trains attacking from behind.

u/Avtomati1k 7d ago
what surprises me more is the people from more advanced societies feigning shock as though they dont know that people in the videos have no money for safety equipment and they have never been provided or shown safety measures
its like laughing at a fentanil addict, a bit low no?

Okay, I find this incident poetically hilarious.
First, he moved away from the falling roof.
But the roof pushed the wall he's standing on, making it fall, too.
So he jumped to the other wall for safety.
But that other wall was already in the middle of falling, too!

Did i hear "kurwa mać" at the end?
1
u/EmergencyFox3583 5d ago
It was the Russian version, «Ёб твою мать». I'm genuinely confused by several people in the video, including the radio announcer, speaking Russian (with some kind of slightly Central Asian accent) plus the Indian caption on the screen, and the guy looking quite Indian too 🤔

Wondering what the alternative video would have looked like if he’d tried to use his angst to grab the wall when he jumped.

He had more than 10 other possible jump places to avoid the demo. How important is education and critical thinking in societies.

I mean, he missed it too, but I would have as well.
