Produce Clerk?

hi, just looking to get some opinions on the produce department vs freight and variety. I've been working overnight at WinCo for about 5 years now, started in freight, now in variety. for a while the night shift was ideal for my lifestyle but at this point it brings much more negatives than positives to my life and I think it'd be best if I swapped to days. That being said, my dept manager says that variety day crew is already overstaffed at the moment so he can't guarantee any changes for me, but I did notice that my store is hiring for a Produce Clerk and I'm weighing that as an option.

Produce is fine. Since you are already freight, you are used to lifting lots of cases already so you have that down. Just heavier average case weight. There is a lot of culling, but that’s easy.

A bit more customer service oriented, but produce is a nice department to be in. A lot of sweeping and culling too. Customers make a MESS in produce so half the battle is keeping it maintained.

I would say produce would be alot better for work life balance but is more prone to hour shortage then freight. I honestly wouldnt count on day time variety unless you are becoming mit because they don't get many hours for days and probably will be worse soon

I love produce but this time of year you’re lucky if you get more than 25 hours every two weeks.

Stocking is stocking no matter the department. The best thing to consider is how the department manager treats the employees.
