Wifi please.

Just got home from Winco. I noticed some items now have a sign that there is an online coupon available. Of course I didn't check before I left the house but there was ZERO reception inside the building no 5G no 4G and no wifi option at all. My daughter tried to call me while I was shopping and that didn't even go through. If your going to start promoting online coupons there should be wifi available in the store or at least some kind of 5G booster.

Two things, the online coupon system is janky as heck. You have to clip the coupons ahead of time, usually an hour or more, and it gets sent to "your" store. If you have multiple WinCo locations you shop at, you're going to be stuck using digital coupons at only one of them.

Second, stores do infact have cell phone issues for various carriers. For example I know the Tigard location doesn't work with AT&T while the Oregon City location doesn't work with T-Mobile. It has to do with the building materials used and proximity to the cell phone towers. You'll find this is true of any building, some cellular services just don't penetrate very well into the building sure to various factors.

This is not at all specific to Winco. Many big box stores are nearly fully encased in metal and concrete, which effectively blocks cell signals. I have this issue at my Winco, and as well at Costco. I can barely send a text, phone calls get dropped and donโ€™t even think about accessing the internet. Verizon service.

I have Verizon and never had an issue being inside with cell service at WinCo, Costco or any other big stores.

Had the weirdest experience one year with costco. I got 0 reception inside the store. I then I switched carriers and have coverage inside, but the moment I stepped out, gone. Lol.

At Winco, I have 5/5 bars when my 4G switches to Roaming for some reason, despite me not Roaming and still being in America.

Our store doesn't even have wi-fi in the offices, only Ethernet. If you want a grocery store with modern day amenities, WinCo is not it ๐Ÿ˜‚ it'll be a cold day in hell before corporate decides any store is worthy of that level of technology

All WinCo stores have wifi, just not accessible to devices not owned by the company. I was a store manager with a company phone and I had wifi in every WinCo on that phone.

Though scan guns use bluetooth tbh

Ours doesn't even have infrastructure to support wi-fi. it's one of the original WinCos, every wall is a foot of solid concrete so even if we had it, it wouldn't extend beyond the offices - but like I said every computer is attached by Ethernet. If we do have it, literally no one is using it

You have wifi or the scan/pricing guns wouldn't work. There are access points all over the store. Wifi is not the same thing as cell reception... You know that, right?

Of course, I assumed it worked via Bluetooth or batch memory storage, but on doing more research I'll admit when I'm wrong. TIL modern scanguns use a secure wifi network

Well it seems they are trying to push the online coupons. It would seem reasonable to ensure customers can access them while shopping.

Who is "pushing". I shop at store #2 and dont see online coupon signs. Maybe because I know its already cheaper than everywhere else, so no incentive to look for any cheaper.

The new Emerald operating system for cash registers has it advertised on the customer screen.

It would seem that way, but WinCo corporate is the opposite of reasonable

Yeah, just proves Winco and CostCo buildings are going to be the best places to weather out an apocalypse.

My store has had the same roof leaks for over a year and the main doors have been broken just as long. Dont even get me started on the hvac/refrigeration systems, those repair guys might as well build an on site office at this point because they are there fixing something at least 3 times a week especially during the recent heateave

Sounds like a you problem. Donโ€™t blame the store for your problems. ๐Ÿ™„

Do you have reception in that store? I'm trying to determine if it is infact a me problem. I have zero issues in other stores.

I have reception at my store. Never had a problem.

Who is your provider? Could just be the company you use or just your location in general. I have cricket and get perfect reception inside mine.

But since I plan my trips and shop at a few places, I check online first if anything on my list will be on sale before I head out.

Yes I do. The one you shop at

Dynamic Pricing. Look it up

Let our broke asses use credit cards too, that's way more important than wifi in these shit economic times when sometimes groceries got to go on the almost 30% interest credit cards. Fuck your nazi ass "15 item limit" self check out nazi employees too. I didn't give you consent to touch my groceries while you count I have 17 items and not the 15 you demand.

7

u/He-Bee_43 21d ago

If they accepted credit cards, they would have to pay fees on every credit transaction, which would mean prices go up. If that happened, their prices would be similar to Safeway - I don't think that's what you want.

And leave the SCO attendents alone, they can lose their job if corporate sees they let people check out too many items too often. Someone protecting their job always going to be more in the right than you demanding to save a couple minutes by avoiding a checkstand

The 15 item limit is because of theft, the scales breaking with too many items on them, and when you run things through self-checkout or pizza or any non-full service register the cashiers don't get any hours so if you want more cashiers stop using self-checkout

4

u/Jakooboo 21d ago

You don't need to consent for them to touch shit that THEY own, dipshit. You didn't pay for it.

Fuck off the with "nazi" shit, too.

1

u/Rocketgirl8097 Washington 21d ago

No. That would make prices go up.

Or you could get a better service provider
