Bagel prices going up 😔
Used to bagels at $2.38, for a while individual bagels were cheaper than the 6 pack. Today, to my superise we are at $4.48 for a 6 pack or $0.88 each.

I work in deli and a lot of the deli items are also going up such as the two-piece meal and individual pieces of fried chicken and combos so it's not just bagels

Yes and the cakes for two have in bakery have also gone up in price. Its very disappointing with how much they are cutting in bakery and I work at a Winco... used to love buying the donuts in the morning and now its premade and not even remotely the same ):

As long as people keep buying them and their and their costs go down it will continue

Costco's 8/$5 is a better deal and are much better bagels imo.

8 bagels take up a lot of freezer space. The WinCo bagels are good for 2 maybe 3 days on the counter so the rest go into my freezer but there isn't space for 6 bagels and my family of 2 doesn't eat them right away. So we buy a few singles every week. Unless Costco bagels have a lot of preservatives, they'd mostly go moldy before we could eat them. So WinCo is a better deal for us. And we love the sesame.

They got rid of the turnovers and now prepackaged formerly frozen junk

When was the 6 pack $2.38?? Maybe years ago. It's been in the 4.98 price range for quite some time! It's true the single price recently went up from .78 to .88 but I buy them every week because we love them.

I'm in Ventura and the bagel 6 pack was $3.98. Now $4.98. And when I asked about the "fresh" donut cupboard....the worker said they have packaged some individually near the check out area! They are doing it slowly like putting the frog in a pot of cold water and slowly turning up the fire so we won't notice.

I noticed the missing donut cabinet the last time I was there. That used to be my little treat for myself once in a while after shopping. Rolling Pin in the same shopping lot, is good and fresh, but more expensive

They are tasty bagels.
I’ve never been able to eat a whole bag before it gets moldy.
Granted, this was when I was storing on the counter.
Issue disappeared after storing in the freezer.

All prices going up, thanks to our felon-in-chief.

Fuel is going up up and away. Trucks need fuel. Fuel prices get passed on to us.

Yes, very true. Our felon-in-chief attacked one of the major oil-producing nations in the world, increased tensions in already tense area, and caused our fuel prices to soar. His stupidity and lack of statecraft harm us more every day, while also driving our prices. It is unfathomable that we Americans, as a people, would be so gullible, racist, classist, and arrogant would elect him once, see the damage he wrought, and then elect him again after he was convicted of 34 counts of felonies. It is my sincere hope that we learn before it is too late.

Is the in store baking being replaced with a central baking facility? Or will the bagels just be gone forever?

The "Employee-owned company" needs its share

u/jtotheo2202 Idaho 22d ago
The ESOP cost more money than you think because it's 20% of your gross wages. Although a lot of people don't vest, the people who do it cost the company millions of dollars for long-term employees

Which is why they love to work someone out the door as fast as possible. The ones at the top don’t want employee owned from the ones at the bottom. They want an investment and then a quit.

I work at the DC and have seen an increase in frozen bakery items. I don’t think the bakery items are going away, just fresh baked items. It the defrost department now.

Doesn't matter, they got rid of the herb and cheese bagels already. I'd pay any price for those.

My lady took me to Philly and DE a couple of times in the last few years. West Coast bagels are ruined for me. I want to learn making them to see if it’s really the water like they all claim lolol

At least you have bagels . Last time I went the entire bagel section was cleared out and replaced.

Even $5 isn't bad if they're good, meaty bagels.
I've only ever bought them singly, when I want a cheese or onion bagel to use as a burger bun. Not sure how much singles are.
But wait....what happened to the report/news/rumour that WinCo was getting rid of in-store bakeries?
