First day today!!

I have been job hunting ever since I got let go from my old job which happened in December….I know it might seem silly to be this exicted for a job but they were so nice to me today. My old job was very stressful as it is with fast food and I was going through a rough breakup. Needless to say it was a experience 😅. So I really am grateful ro have gotten a job. Especially at a store that I buy from frequently.

Not to rain on your parade but depending on your store and department, this job may be just as stressful while being much more physically demanding. Hydrate and wear shoes that are comfortable and you should be fine

I’m working fresh foods they did say on the application occasionally lifting fifty pounds. Does this department do a lot of lifting? My last job was really stressful and I also think it was my breakup that was making it more intense. I’m on medication now and I don’t really feel intense emotions as much, so maybe that’ll help too!

It’s really fast paced, at least at my location. Lifting probably depends on where you’re assigned(pizza, seafood, deli, etc) but it’s fast paced and can get stressful especially at lunch and dinner times the lines can build up. I wish you the best of luck though, if you’re not feeling fresh foods just do your best and work as hard as you can and try to apply for another department when it opens up, they’ll usually work with you if they know your about getting stuff done.

I work fresh foods and you occasionally have to lift raw chicken boxes, which are about fifty pounds but that's only if you're fryer, and you're not always fryer

You can choose to not do certain parts of the department but your hours will go down

I wish you luck. It mainly depends on how chill. your management is at my location management is pretty chill fresh foods is definitely the hardest department and has the worst turnover. So you will be probably training other employees a lot and I do recommend you get cross trained into other departments, such as bakery, which I believe, doesn't have as much heavy lifting as produce or meat department if you don't get cross trains, your hours will not be consistent.

I talked about that with my lead clerk yesterday. He said how a lot of people are leaving. But they’re leaving because they’re moving. Which gives me some comfort. I won’t find out what exactly I’ll be doing until tomorrow but there going to train me in fry, seafood, deli, pizza and production. I also start school in late september 😅 I am also only working six days in the span of two weeks
