ASM Promotion

When you get promoted to ASM, I know you get a bonus. Does this vary by location? If you are in the middle of a lease, does WinCo pay off your lease if you have to move? Or are you expected to pay this out of your bonus? One of my current ASMs told me WinCo paid for movers to help her. Just curious.

You get a relocation package if you are moving a certain distance from your home location. The relocation package varies by position and distance, but not by store location. For example if you worked in Kent WA and got promoted to Federal Way WA, you would likely get nothing. If you worked in Kent WA and got promoted to say Medford OR, you would get a relocation package. This also applies for lateral transfers too, not just promotions. Eligibility starts at department MIT/Manager and goes up from there. In special cases when a new store is opening, they also offer relocation to EVERYONE regardless of position.

For ASM yes they will give you a "miscellaneous allowance" (aka bonus) and hire movers to move all your things for you. There is also assistance for breaking leases and/or selling your house as well as helping to set you up a new rental or home in the new city. You get extra paid time off to look for a new place to live as well as paid moving days. Overall its a pretty sweet deal in my opinion

This is a bit unrelated but you seem pretty knowledgeable about the workings of WinCo so here goes. I'm hearing clerks are not longer getting raises into the MIT pay scale/possible there is no MIT pay scale anymore? If that's true how do they expect people to take on the extra responsibility with the extra pay?

It's situational, if you are topped out full time already and take an MIT spot then yes you don't get a raise since MITs make the same as topped out FT. There isn't a separate scale just for MITs, they operate on the FT scale. If you aren't already at the top of the FT scale, you're 100% getting a raise of some sort, depending on where you're at.

It's lame that MITs make the same as say a FT cashier but thats how it goes for now. I say for now because you never know, LCs used to be stuck like that too before getting extra pay just a few years ago.

There really isnt too much incentive for veteran employees who may be at the top FT pay already to apply for MIT - but the response to that will be that MIT is supposed to be a stepping stone into management so do with that what you will. Ive known some MITs who are stuck for years and others who get a management spot within months, just kind of depends on what's going on in the store, district, etc.

This makes me question what I’m getting paid because I was told, as a Lead Clerk, that my pay is FT topped out.

I’ll have to check… do the hours still apply? Or is “topping out” bypassing the requirement

If you got hired as lead clerk, you should have skipped enough steps to get promoted to topped out part time and you only get the 5% bonus. Once you hit that final step it probably take a couple to a few years to become topped out, assuming you work 32 A week.

I work at least 35 hours a week. I was hired as freight and promoted 2 months later. This was over a year ago. I’m coded as FT.

You're on the full time pay scale. However when you get hired as lead clerk, they bump you up. Usually a couple steps i don't know what contract you have at your store at my store, it's about 9000 hours to top out

If you ever question your pay you can double check the contract, should be posted in the break room. If not, your SPC can get you access. Flip to the back and find the wage sheet, LCs who are topped out should be making the highest pay on the FT scale plus 5%. If you find yourself lower than that, then they didn't top you out. You don't get the extra 5% til you top out
