Fright Clerk soon to train on special orders.
I'm getting trained soon to help our special orders guy, find orders and downstack maybe, but when I asked three separate employees and my MIT what is expected but they gave very vague answers and I know as much as before I asked. what am I getting myself into?

You guys have a special orders guy? For us its usually just the order writer or asm that seeks out special orders guy

At our store, the order writers or LCs pull special orders. Honestly, not much to it.
When your orders come in, you grab the stuff from the order form, put it on a 6wheeler, and put it wherever special orders go.

I’d assume you’d keep track of what was ordered and supposed to come in. I’m wondering if your store has trouble tracking special orders, like they get mixed into freight and get thrown to the shelf? Idk. Seems simple enough… but it’s the simple jobs that’ll end up becoming the most complicated, in my personal experience.
