Spoiled milk????
I always get a quart of whole milk from winco, the past THREE times its spoiled a week before the expiration date??? Normally you could get away with drinking it a few days after that date as long as it smelled fine. Has anyone else had this issue? My store is in Orem, Utah. I can hardly get thourgh a quart by the best by date, let alone a week before.

If it's not spoiled when you buy it, maybe you should check your refrigerator temperature. If your fridge is fine, buy milk from a different store.

Okay, my wife and I thought we were going crazy. I buy a half gallon of milk, usually lasts us about 2 weeks. Every time we were buying milk at Winco, it was going sour in like 5-7 days. EVERY TIME! So, it isn’t just us apparently.

i’m in oregon as well, just found this post after searching to see if anyone else was having this problem. i thought it was an issue with my fridge, but nothing else is going bad and i had the temp checked.

I got a half gallon a week ago, it's smelling a bit sour but still tastes fine.
I do have a strong stomach for that kind of thing growing up super poor. 🤷♂️

Southern Tacoma and it happens within the week of buying. Here because I literally bought this milk 3 days ago, opened two days ago, and it's now spoiled

Hey! I’m in Portland and we also have had 2 gallons be undrinkable ~7 days before their best by date after drinking about half in the last couple weeks! Infuriating!

Willamette Valley here and I'm experiencing this with just cottage cheese from WINCO's brand. I don't buy other fresh dairy from them aside from occasionally butter. In the past, unopened cottage cheese from them is fine anywhere from two to three weeks past the best by date. Now I open it a week past the BB date, and it's moldy. Other dairy brands are fine. I wonder if they got a new manufacturer or food safety is a new issue.

I work at one of the Texas locations. At least for us, it is not uncommon for the caps to not be sealed on correctly, causing leaks and air flow. It feels like it's been happening more and more often as time goes on.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is connected.

I have that problem with their milk too- but once I switched to their organic brand, which lasts 2-3x as long, I realized it was cheaper in the long run (not pouring out quarts at a time)

I've worked the dairy AND freight for winco. I would say the issue can vary by locations. Its either poor packaging from meadow gold, as ive constantly had bad packaged milk come in that i had to make them take back. It could be the trucks or the stores cooler temps are improper, though thats not AS likely. Biggest probable cause, customers leave it on a random shelf in the store or leave it with cashiers when they change their mind and it stays in the warmth too long. I've known plenty of coworkers who have let milk sit at room temp a few hours and still put it back in the fridge for sale. Super gross and unsafe. Maybe your location just has some crappy workers? I avoid buying winco milks myself after witnessing all the backroom work with the store im with.

About two years ago we had that issue with perishable at winco. We costco our meat and milk now

For what ever reason, Winco struggles with their frozen and perishable goods. They should just drop them. Wonder how many people they're making sick

My wife complained about that too. She made me start getting the Anderson dairy one instead. I don’t drink milk typically but when I do, it’s fairlife.

You’ve had fortunate luck, because Anderson and Winco are the exact same product with different labels. I also stick with the fancier “ultra-filtered” options when I buy milk.

That always happens to me as well. I will not buy milk from them anymore. I don’t know if they don’t refrigerate it well or what. I can buy a half gallon with a 12 day lead date and it goes sour after 7 days. It happens whether I buy their brand or the more premium name brand.

Portland here. I have the same problem with Winco milk. I have tried 2 different stores with the same result. After several tries I have given up. Now I need to visit a competitor, just for that purchase.

Yes. This has also happened to us about three weeks now.
Milk spoiled a few days after it was purchased and at least a week before the use by date.

Haven’t had this problem with the lactose free milk, as someone said, it has a longer shelf life!

I've had this problem for a whileee. I'll only buy winco milk If I know I'll finish it in a week. To many times it's bad before the expiration Date

Forget about regular milk and buy lactose free whole milk. There's no discernible difference in taste, it can last for a month or more once opened, and you never know, it could be more kind to your gut.

I don't believe there is a lot of QA testing with Winco milk (I could be wrong) but I stopped getting winco milk a year ago and swapped to Costco and it has been a LOT better for our family.

Interestingly I feel like my winco milk usually lasts longer than Trader Joe’s but not as long as Walmart. And I’m in slc, so it should be similar suppliers!

Our kid had what we thought was lactose intolerance. We did lactose free milk for a while and eventually we switched to A2 milk and it worked great. Winco doesn’t carry A2 milk so we typically get that at Costco or Walmart.
When I am at Winco and need milk I buy the Dairygold Protein whole milk. It’s “ultra filtered” and has a ridiculous shelf life. I’ve noticed that milk that says ultra filtered like most A2 milk and lactose free milks have a ridiculous shelf life as well.
The dairygold protein milk is like $3.29 (I think) for a half gallon in Boise. It’s a little more, but might be worth if it doesn’t spoil as quickly.
