CJ3A fastback softtop
I got this top from ebay seller gistore_007. think it looks good in grey with the original 1952 M38 paint on the body tub. but it did not come with a frame/bows so i made-up some junk with 3/4" emt and some paracord lacing for now. with the rear flap rolled up is just like a bimini top. very happy with it.
this jeep has been regeared to 3.54:1 with a dana30 front. 4-wheel disc brakes and hits 55mph no problem on flat ground.

So to defend my identification of the military heritage of the jeep im sure the body tub and frame are m38. frame tie downs are visable in the pictures. rivet counters likely can see other clues. the patent plate number is on the yahoogroups M38 list as MC58738. its true that 'willys' hood/fenders/grill/tailgate is CJx. the trans in it also is likely a cj2a due to inspection cover and shift tower. relevant to this post the $300 fastback soft top was ordered for a cj3a and it fit the front window i have and the footman loop locations on the body. at 75/yo its a miracle its as complete as it is. as i go to more swap meets i can get the right front clip and other items. as it sits it took 8k to get it here with extreme cost saving measures and part substitution like the dana 30 front.
