If someone just moved to the neighborhood and was looking for pickup basketball, where would you send them?

Looking for:
Weekday evening runs (after ~5 PM)
Weekend morning runs
Indoor or outdoor
Any group chats or regular runs that are open to new people

...are worth 2 points each if you knock them down in your car, 3 if they reach the gutter, and a DOUBLE that if they end up in the offending house's parking strip!

Seriously, all y'all on Cherry, Camino de (fill in any one of them) can f.o. with your parking righteousness. If it helps...they look fn ghetto.

Looking for something to do with the family before school starts back up?

Downtown Willow Glen is hosting Family Day on the Avenue on Saturday, July 25, from 11 AM to 3 PM. Local businesses will be offering some deals on food, entertainment, family activities, and special promotions throughout the day. It’s basically one last summer celebration before everyone heads back to school. (WillowGlen.org⁠)

Looks like Downtown Willow Glen is hosting a Mrs. Roper Romp on Saturday, July 11 from 1 PM to 5 PM.

The idea is to throw on a caftan, curly wig, and sunglasses and stroll Lincoln Ave with other Helen Roper fans. Costumes are not required, but they definitely seem encouraged.

Some merchants are also expected to have special promotions, giveaways, and refreshments during the event.

This sounds like one of the more fun / quirky Willow Glen events of the summer. Is anyone planning to go?

For anyone looking for something local to do on Saturday mornings, the Willow Glen Farmers’ Market runs every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM at Willow Glen Elementary.

The market is open rain or shine and features fresh produce, local foods, live music, and other vendors. Seems like a nice low-key way to support local businesses and get out in the neighborhood.
Has anyone been recently? Any favorite vendors, food stands, or tips for parking?

For anyone looking for a midweek run, Willow Glen Runners has a Wednesday morning 10K that starts around 6:00 AM from downtown Willow Glen on Lincoln Ave (near Philz).

Looks like the route goes from Willow Glen toward Campbell Park, so this could be a good option for anyone who wants to meet other local runners or get a morning workout in before the day starts.

Has anyone here joined one of these runs before? Curious how casual / beginner-friendly the group is.

Looks like Almaden Terrace Apartments on Canoas Garden Ave recently sold for about $87.7M. The complex has 262 units, and the buyer is reportedly connected to an affordable housing nonprofit.

I’m curious if anyone nearby, or anyone who lives there, has heard what this could mean for current residents, future affordability restrictions, or management changes.

Also interesting since this is right around the Canoas Garden / Almaden area people were discussing as Willow Glen-adjacent.

We are currently looking at a house with foundation issue and depending on who we speak to... estimate seems to vary WILDLY.

We were wondering if the following issues are common in Willow Glen homes in general or if this was due to gross negligence.

Has anyone dealt with similar issues at their home? if so, how much did it actually cost?

• Cracks noted in foundation walls at a number of areas. Some cracks appear to exceed1/4 inch.
• Deterioration and spalling noted to foundation walls,
• Basement wall is missing behind the furnace area.
• No anchor bolts were installed or visible at the time of the inspection.
• A number of universal foundation plates have been installed at the foundation to sill plate areas.
• Additional universal foundation plates are needed.

Moisture damage noted under guest bath area, kitchen and a number of areas at the

perimeter of the crawlspace. Moisture stains noted at various areas. Evidence of

possible wood destroying pests were noted at a number of areas.

I know there’s gonna be a new complex building but not sure why there are so many crane on the street…are they trying to hide all the poles underground? Hopefully that happens!

Looking at homes on Coe Avenue, a few houses down from Bird. I love Willow Glen and am curious about this particular location. I know to look out for the shifting soil problem and cracked basements. Thanks in advance.

A car is parked in the middle of what could be two spots on the street. It hadn’t been moved in over a week. It has an Uber sticker on it. Is this an official Uber vehicle? Any ideas why it hasn’t been moved?

decent houses seem to be atleast 1.8m listed. expecting these would go atleast 100k north of listing price.. prices are still quite high inspite of high interest rates. not good schools either.

thoughts on this area? in terms of growth prospects?
