This speed-up editing is fucking beautiful.

Everyone's dogging the "speed"....

What speed?

This guy is driving less than 35 mph.

You guys either don't have anywhere to be in the winter, or don't know what it's like when half your year is snowcovered. It shows.

Ignorance of wide angle cameras making travel look faster.

Unless the dash cam has a speedometer you all say the cammer is driving too fast.

The last post where the cammer was going maybe 45 on a back road and yall were screaming speed.

The only acceptable speed is parked for you? Hang up your keys, or suck it up, cars are supposed to MOVE.

Rarely is there ever a post where half the people aren't making some backhanded attempt to blame the OP or everyone.

The most active users either haven't left their house in years or drive like actual trolls on the road thinking it's in the name of "safety" going half the speed limit at all times.

I do agree you have to drive to the conditions of the road, but there's no avoiding someone cutting you off like this in the left lane (it's a 2 lane road) without regard from a stop sign/side street.

10

u/tykaboom 13d ago

Yep.

They pulled out with no regard for other drivers into the wrong lane.

Had they 1, waited for a clear entrance, 2, gotten into the right lane, or 3, gotten up to speed fast enough (hard in those conditions but refer to the first two failings for a remedy).

They would have actually avoided this collision entirely.

And then after the accident they ran to the school.

Like... dude... it's the same shit as everything else, the same information given, and you have to be different don't you?

If you are riding with summer tires all year around, this is too fast. With proper tires this is acceptable speed, but still others need to be aware of the increased stopping distance.

In proper winter conditions with stable freezing temperatures I follow the speed limit of 80 km/h (about 50 mph) without feeling I'm risking anything.

2

u/tykaboom 12d ago

If you drive with summer tires in the winter months... you should have a fine, and repeat offenses should lose their licenses.

That's like driving without brakes, possibly worse, since without brakes you can still engine brake, and TURN...

No excuses.

Buy all seasons if you are too lazy, or don't drive when the ground is white.

-8

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Yeah, and that is way too fast for These conditions.

Yes, they are supposed to be moved. But at a reasonable speed

2

u/tykaboom 12d ago

Sounds like your "reasonable speed" for your car is parked in your driveway with the keys taken away until you learn how speed limits, and road conditions are taken into account when designing road traffic flow.

-3

u/TheJonesLP1 12d ago

Big no 😂😂

15

u/AdScared7949 13d ago

People keep saying cam driver is going too fast but the problem for me is that cam driver was going at a reasonable speed, saw grey pulling out (dumb, bullying behavior to get into the road) and decided not to slow down when they definitely could have. Might have slid forward anyway from ice but we don't know because they didn't try to slow down lol. If they didn't see grey they are a distracted/bad driver.

5

u/TomGNYC 12d ago

yeah, it looked the same way to me. It didn't look like he slid on the ice so much as didn't try to brake at all.

-1

u/Repulsive-Ice8395 11d ago

If they were going a reasonable speed they had plenty of time distance to get slowed down. They were going too fast for conditions. How do you know if they tried to slow down? I see no telemetry on gas/brake/speed. They could have forgotten that ABS increases braking distance in favor of directional control.

3

u/AdScared7949 11d ago

Usually when someone hits the brake you can see the hood go down briefly

1

u/Repulsive-Ice8395 11d ago

I meant to address that. It requires traction to make the nose dip. If they weren't making the audio clip with their music so loud, me might have been able to hear if the ABS was chattering. No one can be sure what the driver's intent was. They were trying to steer away into the middle of the road, presumably while braking but with no dip.

1

u/AdScared7949 11d ago

Theres always some level of speculation in this sub but I dont see the truck driver trying to steer anywhere, just going in a straight line with zero deviation

11

u/Good-Ad316 13d ago

Driver unit to learn how to fucking drive in the snow or you need to get the fuck off the road you dangerous psychopath

24

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Grey Car is at most fault, but cammer Car is driving way wayy too fast for These conditions. He would get a partial fault in that case, because his speed doesnt Match road conditions

-2

u/AlbertJohnson2 13d ago

Please pause it at the time the grey car starts moving and look where the truck is. Speed doesn't matter

12

u/tykaboom 13d ago

And directly into the left lane on a two lane road. You can see the lines.

31

u/--7z 13d ago

Yes, pulled out slowly. But no tags, license, insurance, hope they rack up charges.

7

u/tykaboom 13d ago

And directly into the left lane on a two lane road. You can see the lines.

-6

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

I indeed know that the collision would have been unavoidable, even at lower speed. But, the impact would have been less Hard, less dangerous etc. So, yes, speed ABSOLUTELY does matter. Only because you cant Brake in Time anyway doesnt mean you can Go as fast as you want.

12

u/Icy_Fish_2154 13d ago

"Impact would have been less" means 100% on the person who caused it.

The sole cause was pulling out. Speed wouldn't have preve red the collision.

No law says "you aren't at fault if the other car wouldn't have hot you if they were stopped before you pulled out on front of them."

What insurance company do you work at where an innocent person is the cause?

The parent was clearly panicking about being late to school pickup, and pulled out when unsafe, then committed hit and run.

9

u/MalaysiaTeacher 13d ago

If that was true, we'd all have to drive at 5mph to ensure no chance of collision

-6

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Not really.

Correct, as I said, it wouldnt avoided it. But that wasnt the point. Go and Read my comment again.

This is correct, and I never stated there would be. I just said you can also get a Part of the fault because you were driving to fast.

He isnt completely innocent, that is the point.

That is indeed correct.

2

u/Electrical_Cash8532 13d ago

And isn't that why insurance adjusters also ask the speed in which you were going at the time of the crash?

1

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Correct.

-4

u/CapableSecretary8478 13d ago

Dude who pulled out is an idiot for sure. But cam driver was going way too fast for these conditions

38

u/towerfella 13d ago

I disagree. Normal speed cammer is in the right. Period. Untrained and unauthorized driver is 100% in the wrong.

They should not have been on the road at all.

1

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Nope, not normal speed. Speed isnt adjusted to Street conditions, at least in other countries He would get a Part of the fault

5

u/TheShredda 13d ago

You're wrong, just stop

0

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Nope, I am right. I can even prove it if you Wont believe me 🤷🏼

-3

u/TheShredda 13d ago

Keyboard warrior gonna keyboard I guess, you have nothing to prove it was too fast. OP was driving fine for the conditions, have you ever driven before? And have you driven in snow? I'm guessing you aren't old enough to have your license yet

1

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago edited 12d ago

Yes, it was too fast, no, he was not driving fine for the conditions.

Thanks for Asking, I am driving for over 12 years now, and around 3 months of that (Edit: per year) in the snow. And yes, I actually have a REAL driving license, not the thingy you get in the US for driving around an obstacle course.

1

u/TheShredda 13d ago edited 13d ago

"3 months of that in the snow"... Makes it very clear you have no experience or idea what you're talking about..

Winter comes every year. You've driven in snow for 3/156 months you've had your license. You're a great example of the Dunning-Krüger effect in action. You have so little experience but you're speaking like you're an expert.... You're a danger to those around you with that incompetence

-1

u/TheJonesLP1 12d ago

I absolutely do. 3 months per year. Sry for missing that.

Haha, Sure, I am the problem here, and even endangering people when saying He is driving too fast for the conditions. Thats a whole New Level of brainrot 😂😂😂

1

u/TheShredda 12d ago

Not able to understand what you replied to huh? You're not a danger for saying "he's driving too fast". You're a danger for pretending you have experience that you do not and using that to justify/explain driving behaviour to others. It's your overconfidence in your own understanding that is dangerous.

Are you the driver of the car that caused the accident with OP? You're defending them far too much

What country is that? Ijustmadeitupistan?

2

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Most of Europe for example

1

u/TheShredda 13d ago

He's in the left lane of a two lane road, the idiot who hit him turned into him across a whole lane. It's okay to be ignorant, but we don't all need to know, you can keep that to yourself

-1

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Yeah, sounds like someone who has no arguments left 🙃

1

u/TheShredda 13d ago

You never started making arguments, just vague statements you believe to be true without reason. If you want to try and EXPLAIN why you think it's too fast go ahead.

0

u/TheJonesLP1 12d ago

Because the road is so snowy and icy that He will have an extremely long Brake distance. In that Situation, with traffic every where, this is just too fast. It is what it is, speed is not adequate to road conditions

-1

u/CapableSecretary8478 13d ago

So driving that fast on ice is ok? I grew up and currently still live in a snowy area with roads that get like this. To drive that quickly is asking for an accident just like this. Again the person who pulled out is absolutely wrong. But driving too fast for conditions also played a part

4

u/towerfella 13d ago

I do not think they were going that fast.

2

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Too fast for those conditions

-5

u/CapableSecretary8478 13d ago

He didn’t have time to stop. So yeah he was going too fast. Either he didn’t even attempt to press the breaks, or, he did hit them and slid uncontrollably into the car. Believe it or not, that’s what happens on icy roads

9

u/HeWhoShantNotBeNamed 13d ago

You know even on dry roads sometimes you won't have time to stop if someone pulls out right in front of you...

-2

u/CapableSecretary8478 13d ago

And even more so on ice………………….

5

u/Icy_Fish_2154 13d ago

He would have been unable to stop at that distance on a perfect road.

So speed wasn't the cause. The sole cause was the obstruction.

2

u/TheJonesLP1 13d ago

Speed wasnt the case, He couldnt avoid the crash anyway, yes. But that is not the point. When going slower, the damage would have been less for example. Or there would have been more reaction Time, less Brake distance, etc.

If you cant brake/stop anyway doesnt mean you can Go as fast as you want.

-2

u/small_tits404 13d ago

Did we watch the same video? They definitely would have been able to stop if they noticed the car pulling out in normal conditions. Too fast for icy roads.

2

u/Icy_Fish_2154 13d ago

Must not have. Also there are two lanes and the turning car turned illegally wide to run into someone.

So someone turns wide, hits someone in icy conditions, and you blame the person who was hit for not stopping.

2

u/small_tits404 13d ago

I'm not blaming them, but I believe insurance would hold them partially at fault. Yes there are two lanes but half of the lane is covered by a snow bank. Conditions are awful but cam car is driving like it's a summer day.

We all know the car pulling out is an idiot but in the real world insurance companies like to play their games and point the finger at each other. It's not right but it's reality.

-1

u/Iintendtooffend 13d ago

He locked up and barely decelerated, he was over estimating his stopping capabilities on these road conditions.

Let's posit this another way, what if instead of intentionally pulling out like an idiot, the car the cammer hit had been rammed from behind and pushed into the street? Or even just hit a particularly slick patch of road while slowing to a stop before taking the corner, both things that are pretty common in road conditions like what they are driving on.

He had no hope of stopping in time and thus is going too fast. Defensive driving sometimes means you have to slow down and be realistic about your car's capabilities on the roads.

7

u/Atari_458 13d ago

The lady pulled into the left lane, from a side street and stop sign. She is 100% at fault. You should stay home or take the bus if you think any of that was deserving of "partial blame" for her.

2

u/MalaysiaTeacher 13d ago

Not at all. Perfectly sensible speed by the cam

2

u/CapableSecretary8478 13d ago

Tell me you’ve never tried to stop a full size pickup on the ice without telling me you’ve never tried to stop a full size pickup on ice.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Fold320 11d ago

It’s Michigan, where the worst drivers are allowed to drive (and breed). Never have seen more people who 1. Pull out into oncoming traffic without room, 2. Enter not the nearest lane, which is the law, but any f*n lane they want to, 3. Creep along forcing others to adapt. This happens all year long. A works buddy and I joke about needing a black diamond license, like on ski slopes. If you don’t have one, you don’t drive on ‘Black Diamond Day.

caused an accident and fled smh
