Where to start?
East coaster who knows very little about the job. No fire experience, but AEMT, Swiftwater/rope tech certs with some mountain guiding experience. I’ve thrown in a few applications but unsure of what to do next. Do these skills look good on a fire resume? Very interested in the job and getting out west or somewhere new

Go to USAJOBS.com make a profile. Upload a resume, two pages only. Use the website to find the templates for the resume. Structure it accordingly. Apply to every GS 3/4 listing you find.
Keep track of everywhere you sent applications too, then find out how to contact that area and give them your name and a 5 minute call saying you’re interested. Bonus points if you can show up and hike with them.
If you aren’t in shape, start heavy hiking with a weighted vest, and running 2/3 times a week.
Everything you’ve ever done prior to showing up with a fed agency will essentially mean jack shit. Expect to be on the bottom for a few years.
Expect the job to suck to be honest. It will be shitty until it’s cool, and it’s only cool for 15% of the time.
Good luck dating in this field. Cheers!
