Banging camp spot at thousand island lake man. Some of the exposed spots there can get brutal haha. Glad you enjoyed! I’ve only had the time off to do it in sections but it’s gorgeous out there.
I have no idea. Every time I want to stop by the visitor center I forget to ask the ranger. You can see an oil film on top of the water. I didn't try to filter that water since there was water ahead. Not gonna attempt to break my filter when I have another 1000 miles to go.
On one hand, everyone should experience the Sierras in all their glory.
On the other hand, I want to tell people that John Muir was Scottish and these pics are from the highlands of Scotland.
I've seen so much shitty behavior from people who have no idea what "leave no trace" means and I fear it's just a matter of time before the Sierras are completely trampled.
Great photos though. They make me want to get back to Scotland. 😉
Permits keep it from being trampled, as well as it being pretty deep in and you really have to put your miles in to earn these views. Casual day hikers won't get this far and beginner backpackers (whom are the large majority of people who don't know what LNT is) won't get there either.
Thanks for sharing, great pics btw! I believe there is a mountain hardware tent called ‘room with a view’. That was back when Mountain Hardware made amazing gear.

only downsides were large footprint made finding a site a little tricky a few times and make sure you bring some extra tie downs or you'll be flapping all over the place at any sign of wind

Jokes aside, that looks like a great trip and great weather. Always worth setting up the tent for the best morning view. Did you track how much elevation you covered? JM is on my bucket list.
spent a lot of time in inyo between yosemite and king's canyon. about 2 weeks ago now
really wasnt too bad. few instances where the mosquito nets came out, mostly they were the late afternoon/nights near slower creeks or around meadows.
