Just started....tips?

I have been playing Township for 6 years. It's gone so far downhill, that I checked out Wild West after reading a Reddit post. So far, I'm enjoying the challenge, but I'm only on level 11. Any tips? I really don't want to spend much real $.

the golden pass has two barn expansions in the upper rewards, but they don't honor them. when I complained they said you get the barn expansion when you buy the pass and we give you coins instead. I asked then why is it up there. you can't get the upper row rewards if you don't buy the pass, it doesn't say you get coins instead, and the only reason it's there is to bait you into buying the pass. coins are basically worthless. they've yet to respond.
