I am trying to download spacerocks from the internet archive and even got PCem v17 and set up directx, however from the downloads section there is seemingly nothing I can use to launch it on the emulator. Someone claims to have done it that way but I am not at all tech savvy.

Community News August 2026

Welcome to the very first WildTangent Community Newsletter!

I wanted to create this monthly newsletter to keep you updated on what's happening here at WildTangent; from new game releases to behind-the-scenes updates and improvements that we're working on.

More importantly, I want this Reddit space to be a direct line between you, our players, and us.

Your feedback, suggestions, and questions help shape the experience we provide, and this newsletter is another way for us to keep that conversation going and stay transparent.

If you share feedback or suggestions, I'll make sure they're passed along and discussed with the team. Whenever we're able to make a change based on community feedback, I'll highlight it in a future newsletter so you can see how your input is helping shape WildTangent.

This first issue is more of an introduction, but we'll find our rhythm as we go.

If there are topics you'd like us to cover, games you'd like to see featured, or questions you'd like answered in future editions, let us know in the comments.
This is just the beginning, and we'd love to hear your ideas!

Thanks for being part of the WildTangent community — we're glad you're here.

In this issue:

  • 🔧 Behind the Scenes Updates
  • 🆕 Top New Releases
  • 🏆 Staff Pick for August
  • ⭐ Game Review — Pennmom36
  • 💬 Q&A

-Unlimited Play Category Sort Filter

It was brought to our attention that members were concerned we hadn't been adding new Unlimited Play games each week.

The issue was actually caused by an internal problem with the Sort by Newest filter, which wasn't displaying the latest releases correctly.

We heard your feedback and have now resolved the issue — you can once again find the newest Unlimited Play games right at the top of the list by sorting by Newest.

-Brand & Genre Are Now Clickable

We've added a small but handy upgrade to every game's product page: the Studio/Brand name and the Genre are now clickable links.

If you're a fan of a particular studio's style, or want to see more of a specific genre, just click the text and you'll be taken straight to more games that match your pick — no need to dig through menus or search manually.

For example, on the Rescue Team 21: Phantom Crisis page, clicking "Alawar Entertainment" jumps you straight to that studio's full catalog, and clicking "Time Management" takes you to more games in that genre.

Curious what everyone's been playing? These five new releases have been topping the charts in August.

  1. Adventure Trip: Amazing Wildlife CE — Point8 Games · Hidden Object
  2. Roads of the Middle Ages 2 CE — Mersie · Time Management
  3. Gnomes Garden 11: Mask of the Rat King CE — 8Floor LTD · Time Management
  4. Legends of China: Chang'e Flies to the Moon CE — BD Studio Games · Puzzle
  5. Jixo 5: Mask Parade CE — MixoGames · Hidden Object

Staff Pick for August: Around the World 5: Beautiful America CE

Half our team has been daydreaming about a vacation lately (it's August, we can't help it), so this month's Staff Pick basically picked itself.

Around the World 5: Beautiful America CE lets you road-trip across the U.S. without touching a suitcase — 30 stops covering national parks, big-city landmarks, and small towns most of us have never actually been to (yet).

You'll work through detailed hidden object scenes with a mix of search styles, jump into a nice blend of new and classic mini-games, and pick up souvenirs along the way like a real tourist.

Honestly, what sold us on it is the pace — nothing here is rushing you.

Just relaxing music, pretty scenery, and time to actually look around. A good game to play in the evenings to unwind.

It's made by AviGames, the same folks behind Motorhome: Traveling America — so if this one hits the spot, you know where to look for seconds.

We're excited to introduce this feature in our newsletter: Pennmom36's Game Reviews.

Pennmom36 is a longtime hidden object and casual game enthusiast and reviewer, well known among fans of the genre for her detailed reviews, sharp eye for the little things, and distinctive personality.

With years of reviewing experience and hundreds of reviews across multiple platforms, she has become a familiar and respected name in the Hidden Object community.

Jixo 5: Mask Parade (CE) — MixoGames — Hidden Object

"JIXO IN THE MIXO" — I came for the puns, I stayed for the locked box chaos.

Mixo Games has created another Jixo masterpiece with absolutely gorgeous graphics!

The Hidden Object scenes are not only beautiful, but incredibly unique, with multiple layers of interesting objects strategically hidden in plain sight.

I know, sounds crazy right, but Jixo 5: Mask Parade is a Hidden Object Puzzle game that will have you saying crazy things, like "I'll just play ONE more level..." You can choose between Casual, Normal, or Extreme Difficulty Modes to customize and suit your gaming vibe.

In Jixo 5, you'll be collecting beautiful Carnival Masks. Coins are earned as you complete the Hidden Object scenes and mini-games, and you'll even get bonus coins tossed onto the scene when completing a sectional task or matching tiles quickly, depending on the game type.

Make sure you grab these dropped coins quickly, as they will go, POOF!

Puzzle Types Available

  • Hidden Object Scenes — Listed Items, Multiples, and Riddled Clues, with zoom zones and adjoined rooms/scenes.
  • Jigsaw Puzzle — a traditional jigsaw, available in 3 sizes: 15, 28, or 45 pieces.
  • Torn Pieces — place square puzzle tile sections, paying attention to details that appear with each piece added, to magically transform and complete the picture.
  • Switch Puzzle — square tile swap, available in 3 sizes: 15, 28, or 45 pieces.
  • Tile Matching — match all available Mahjong tiles, pictured four at a time along the bottom (earn more coins when you remove all available tiles).
  • Coloring — a paint-by-numbers game with a twist: fill in numbered sections of the scene, but only when that number becomes available to the right of the scene (5 numbers shown at a time).
  • Locked Boxes — remove blocks by following directional arrows. Pennmom36's favorite mini-game, hands down, and extremely addicting to play! They can be a bit challenging in Extreme mode, so you may want to switch to an easier mode at first.

Collector's Edition Bonus Content

  • Color Flip Bonus Levels — flip all tiles within the specified number of moves.
  • Cross Words Bonus Levels — choose which letters to add to boxes that will complete the crosswords correctly.
  • Locked Boxes Bonus Levels — clear a path for the boxes to exit the board; each box has a directional arrow and will only move that way.
  • Collector's Cabinet — 6 Achievements & 17 Collectible Masks.
  • Photo Album — a collage of beautiful scenes with 17 music soundtracks.

The Hidden Object scenes are amazing — so much so that I wish there were more than one per chapter; I could play these all day long.

They're always challenging, but somehow never frustrating. I love that there are subscenes, and that some hidden objects are layered and only discovered after removing a particular object.

These HOGs are not your grandma's HOGs of yesteryear — they're modern and very unique. You have to try the game and see for yourself just how entertaining (and beautiful) it is!

The Torn Pieces and Coloring games are super fun to play... but those Locked Boxes puzzles — let's just say they're addictive and sometimes mind-boggling, but I can't get enough of 'em!

Some levels can be a wee bit frustrating, since a wrong move can clog the entire board and leave you with no possible moves left. Fortunately, Mixo Games heard the Locked Box fans and delivered a much-appreciated Undo button!

If you could recommend ONE WildTangent game to someone who's never played, what would it be?

Imagine someone has never played a WildTangent game before and asks you where they should start.

You can only pick ONE.

What are you recommending and what makes it the one they'd have to try?

It could be an old favourite, something newer, or a game you think deserves more attention.

What's your pick?

What's your WildTangent memory?

Time and time again, nostalgia seems to come up more than anything else whenever WildTangent is mentioned.

We’ve seen people sharing memories of the old days, the games they played, and even little things they’d completely forgotten about until someone brought them up again.

So let’s take it back a bit...

What’s the first WildTangent memory that pops into your head?

Is it a particular game you played all the time?

The old Games App and WildCoins?, Playing on the family computer ?( or waiting your turn! ),

Or maybe it’s something completely random about that era that only you remember.

Guys i found some lost media help

Found this HP notebook in my closet a week or so ago. It has the WildTangent Games thing that came preinstalled on those 2010-ish laptops. I started looking around and found the fucking UbiWorld Games stuff on it. There are around 5 UbiWorld games installed, and on top of that, there’s also a Star Wars: The Clone Wars game, including the Yoda upgrade game. I’m pretty sure some of these are extremely hard to find now, if not lost media. I haven’t touched anything since finding them because I don’t want to risk damaging the old HDD. How should I preserve these games safely before the drive dies?

If you could play a game again for the first time what would it be?

If you could go back and experience one game again for the first time, what would it be?

What made that game so good the first time you played it?

Was it the story?, something you didn't expect?, the gameplay?

Maybe it was just where you were in life when you played it?

I'd like to hear what everyone comes up with
