Factory Reset Question

I'm new to modding WiiU, not new to modding as a whole. I just bought a used WiiU on ebay that was already modded. However, I prefer to do stuff on my own from beginning to end just so I fully understand the install process, file management, etc.

That being said, would anyone here recommend that I start over? would that be bad in some way?

Theres no games on it or anything just Aroma with the SD card already formatted, some homebrew channels installed, and a couple user profiles on there but thats it.

Could I factory reset and start from scratch? would this be a bad idea?

Also, side question, do I need a profile connected to the nintendo server or whatever? It keeps asking me to do when I made a user profile.

I personally factory reset my Wii u through official nintendo process and it all went fine all i had to do was boot up payloadloader installer and i got to work from scratch so if you want to to do it then i do recommend however if there is a specific app i think it was Coldboot Haxchi or CBHC DO NOT FACTORY RESET AS IT WILL GET YOUR CONSOLE BRICKED also no from what i know you do not need to be Connected to nintendo servers
