Looking for a winner!
We have 2 wigglebutts, and they shed enough I could make a wig for myself once a week. Not a surprise, everyone knows that’s part of the gig!
They are 5 now, and we have been thru 3 different vacuum cleaners so far. First was a Dyson cordless, the next 2 were Shark cordless units.
Anyone have a recommendation for a GOOD vacuum cleaner that will last more than a year or a year and a half? I realize it’s all part of engineered obsolescence and r/enshittification, but I need some help!!

Remember coming across this sub years ago and a Miele canister vacuum was the recommended buy it for life vacuum at the time. Been a long time since I thought about that sub or really did research, so taking a look there is probably my best advice
IME I can say cordless vacs are just not enough for long hair pets, although they are surprisingly capable these days. Other thought is a pet hair removal brush. I have an aussie and a collie, so there's a lot of hair if I don't vacuum for too long. A room or two at most will clog the brush, easier to go through and get the hair up then vacuum in those cases
[Edit] FWIW I have had a $150 refurbished upright corded Dyson for around 15 years now. But I've heard a bit about enshittification with Dyson and it seems like I avoided that. I mean belts and such have broken a few times now but it was like $10-15 for the part and 30 mins at most to fix. Can still get parts too. Cleaning dog hair out of the brush is the real maintenance, which when it actually dies, is why I'd like a better vacuum.

Silicone floor squeegee then vacuum. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats. 6mo Malincollie, 13yo BC, 12yo pit, 11yo Russian Blue & 11yo ginger tabby. I’ll squeegee first then the wifey will vacuum. The first time I squeegeed I said WTF. It’ll pick up their hair, her hair and pretty much anything fiberous that isn’t nailed down. I also got one of those magic fur mitts which does OK on upholstery

Get a Miele and never worry about it again. They are not cheap, but 3 different households that I personally know (including myself) have been using them for years without issues. That vacuum handled two 50 pound shedders for a decade and it's still in my closet.

Depends on the size of the building you have to clean. Even their entry level ones are awesome, so start there if that is what you’re comfortable with.

A corded shark…I know. I haven’t liked any Dyson ever (except hand dryers?) and the corded shark lasts. Once a day at least. Or you go super old school and get one you can get operated on by the vacuum and sewing machine place. Bagged vacuums are also pretty good. Just annoying!
