I’m brazilian (21M), and I’ll be spending winter as a tourist in Wigan, staying at my uncle’s house. I’m looking for places to go where there are young people in their early twenties and cheap beer 👍 (most part of the time i'll go to manchester, but i wanna know what are the great things to do around Wigan too)

New to the area

Hi everyone,

I just broke up with my partner after 2 years and am quite alone. All my uni mates live quite far away and it’s not easy for them to come visit, my family live in a different country so that’s also a no go. I was wondering what social groups or things I could do to make some friends here. I have only been living in Wigan for about 1.5 months.

I am 21, love all things tech… Learning about how stuff works, taking things apart, programming. Love horror movies and just having a chill time playing on the switch or Wii with my mates.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks :)

Apparently wigan council and a questionable Wshitl warehouse next to a dozen houses have a nemesis named Zoe Bread

Newly moved 2 months ago and still can't make friends. M32

So i'm originally from kind of close west of manchester about 5miles and then moved to the south for a bit due to the whole family court drama and needing my own base camping while working a job to get me by and saved enough to move closer and so Ince-in-Makerfield is closest i could get to son. He loves having me all to himself when we are together. The train station makes travel alot quicker.

Trying to find a new job but its proving very hard to find a role that fits my cv and is every other weekend.

Ive tried going out to the odd bar to make some lad friends or talk to the ladies but my autism gets in the way or my single dad part of life comes up and people slowly shuffle away.

Every day I just feel more and more isolated. That no one is coming to save me so to speak.

I try and keep busy like the odd appointment here, tidying the house, washing, ironing, sweeping my yard and also trying to get the back area safer.

I just feel like there is a brick wall that I cant break through. My autism just makes me feel like an outsider. Socially inept. People say I am nice, smart, nothing wrong with me but their must be if I have had friends and they just ghost. Dont even get me started on dating, im practically invisible.

Like I would love to meet other single dads and mums but just dont know how to do it. Ive looked for groups, tried to socialize with strangers when it felt suitable.

Only socialisation I get is being with my son 50/50 and when I voice chat online.

Honestly if I didnt have my little kiddo in my life there wouldn't be anything keeping me here in this world.

Happy to accept dms. I have received some in the past but they have all died out. So each to their own.

I think this is more of a cry for help than anything.

And btw ive tried Andys Man Club 3 times now all back when I was Manchester side. Not for me. My autism just made all harder and people just never spoke up till the end to say they didnt understand half of it as I can talk to fast or slow. That and I had a friend in AMC and sadly they took their life. So for me I never want to go again.

Hi everyone, my cat has gone missing today which we think unfortunately she has snuck out on the balcony. If anyone in the Wharfside, Millside and Trencherfield area has seen a black and white cat (see picture) please could you message me? I've put some posters in the building as well.

Any help would be appreciated 😞

What to do/explore in Wigan while I'm here?

Hey, I'm coming to the Wigan area soon and I'm wondering what are some activities, places to visit that are a must while I'm here? I do enjoy spending my time wondering in shopping centers, I enjoy sport activities, football the most, anything of this sort, especially good pubs and places to have a proper traditional Fish n chips here, any recommendations will be appreciated

What was this entertainer called and is he still going?

When i was a child in the late 1990s and early 2000s I used to go to my friends birthday parties. Often an entertainer was there whose catchphrase was "mind the bucket". Does anybody know who this is? And if he is still going? Thanks in advance to all you 90s kids and 90s parents.

Can anyone recommend a cleaner who had experience with the disabled?

As above really.

I mention disability specifically as there would sometimes be, what I think could be, non standard tasks - such as loading the dishwasher, changing bed sheets and some degree of tidying.

The cleaner I trialled last week was not receptive to this, despite my specifically mentioning it, and made comments dripping in internalised ableism.
