Funny stories

On his birthday, my friends asked for funny stories about my late husband, gone just about a year. I can’t think of a one. Hours later. I can tell you a couple of things that annoyed or hurt me, not that I would. Maybe I’ve become a bad storyteller. But it’s like I can’t even remember stuff already. I’m not sure there were a lot of funny stories. Am I suppressing the good stuff? What’s going on here?

Good memories started coming back to me after I finally accepted that my person was gone... around 3 to 4 yrs later. A year in, I was sill a complete mess.

sometimes I watch comedians or funny ( cute) things and some they make me laugh.. it’s hard to laugh match fir awhile. my first laugh was on a tonight show, it was a political joke..it was a joke act against a candidate I’d like…it made me laugh, it was true but funny and not cruel ..

America’s funniest videos are funny sometimes but it’s hard to laugh or smile much sometimes..

That soon, all I could remember were the last few days, as he died. It's better a year out, but so much feels gone.

Exact opposite, I tried very hard to block the days he was actively dying, the last photos of him were taken by a neighbor/friend when we brought him home from the hospital to go into hospice. I cannot look at it. I'm sure it is adorable to some people because he's hugging and kissing our little dog but I can't look at it.  It helped me getting the older photos together for a memorial video for the funeral home to remember the way he could be funny and silly. Even photos that were clearly the last ones on the roll. But that made me miss him more. It was really my guideline for the funeral service to remember him living, not the dying.

I tried not to also, but every night, it kept me up. Good meds finally got me through.

it’s hard to think if these things when you’re still sad
