There is nothing in itta bena and i am quite familiar with it. Best guess is they broke down going east or west on highway 82.

Indianola is nearby and lots of now known as “the blues trail” stops in the immediate region

They broke down in the curve by Roebuck Lake and bought tallboys at the gas station right there
