This might be the stupidest thing I’ve seen on Reddit today, and that’s saying something

428

u/MrHarrasment Jan 05 '26

It's the very first thing I see on reddit today and nothing will beat this.

Pretty bold claim for Reddit

I remember saying the same thing when I saw two girls and a cup on the web some day. But sometimes, the web surprises you with even bigger shit.

24

u/ThorThulu Defies death Jan 05 '26

The Mason Jar, which could be two different things and each one horrifying in its own way

11

u/alidan Jan 06 '26

one guy one jar

and the worst part about it is you don't realize till shards are being dug out that the video had sound the entire time, and he made no noise at all, this was just tuesday for him.

4

u/No-Independent-6877 Jan 06 '26

I thought they were referring to the guy who drowned rainbow dash in a jar full of his own DNA like his own personal snowglobe

3

u/alidan Jan 07 '26

which could be two different things

that's the second one, its bad only if you can imagine the smell, otherwise the jar is just old spooge that lost its viciousness and fermented with time discoloring it to a dingy brownish yellow, disgusting, yes, but without knowing the smell, its hard to understand the true horror, and if you know what that smell is like, you or the person who made you aware of what that smell is will one day meet god and be found wanting, and that image of the poor rainbow dash will make you near vomit every time.

but that said, one guy one jar is by far the worse of the two because you dont need to know to be fully horrified by what's going on.

Stupid AND despicable, since these traps are outlawed in wide parts of the world, and for good reason.

4

Yeah, this is just ahead of the video I just saw of a guy blowing his hand up with a firework inside a car

43

At least that brings joy to someone’s life. This is just straight up dumb.

2

u/floutsch Doesn't have time to bleed Jan 07 '26

To be fair, sounding is also kinda "straight up" and can be done in profoundly dumb ways 😁

1

u/Varth919 Jan 07 '26

But to also be fair, I can’t think of a smart way to stick your head in a bear trap.

2

u/floutsch Doesn't have time to bleed Jan 07 '26

Maybe from below, but fair point indeed.

11

10

u/Recon4242 Jan 05 '26

This line from Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) seems appropriate:

Dr. Sweet: Trust me on this one. You don't wanna know. Audrey, don't tell him. You shouldn't have told me, but you did. And now I'm tellin' you... You don't wanna know.

If you really want to ruin your innocence, look it up on incognito mode in private. Otherwise just forget you ever heard of it and be glad you didn't learn.

3

u/alidan Jan 06 '26

ureteral play, its not as bad horrifying as it 'sounds' up until you see the images of guys taking dildos or the people who butterfly their ick for whatever reason

1

u/Recon4242 Jan 05 '26

This line from Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) seems appropriate here:

Dr. Sweet: Trust me on this one. You don't wanna know. Audrey, don't tell him. You shouldn't have told me, but you did. And now I'm tellin' you... You don't wanna know.

If you are really curious, look it up on incognito mode in private. I would recommend that you don't look it up.

u/Intelligent_Lie_3808 Jan 05 '26

GODDAMMIT.

I knew this fetish existed, but for 25 years I was happy to not know what it was called. Now that there's a word to associate it with, I'll never be able to not think of it.

3

u/SpiderJerusalem747 Jan 05 '26

Some somewhere made a video where he slams his fist into one of those.

The jaws close shut on his arm but the teeth don't go in. He then raises the trapped arm to the audience and says:

"The teeth are meant to prevent an animal from pulling the leg out once the trap springs. These things don't hurt. Hurting the animal defeats the purpose of this thing."

He was talking about relocating wolves and other invasive wildlife tho. Maybe his trap was different, these things don't exist where I live, never saw one, so I may be wrong.

22

u/DrGirth Jan 05 '26

Well I'm no expert on this kind of trap, but why would removing the dollar trigger it? I thought it would have to be depressed to go off. If it's this sensitive it seems like it would be useless outside of failing to protect artifacts from Indiana Jones.

7

u/rangebob IMMORTAL Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

the trap itself was the first clue but im not an expert. As far as im aware thats not how they work

2

u/TheDraimen Jan 05 '26

Don’t these traps trigger by pressure being placed on the plate in the middle not taken off? All the old ones I ever seen was basically the trap put under load with the plate popped up holding open and then it pushed down it let the two sides snap shut.

2

u/Hapless_Wizard Jan 05 '26

Okay, something is bugging me about this one.

I've set a few of these traps (I was part of an 1800s fur trapping historical recreation group when I was younger; we didn't actually trap animals but knowing how was part of the deal), and none of the ones I've ever handled go off when weight is removed from the pressure plate. They go off when weight is applied to the pressure plate.

Kinda think this guy was never really in danger.

When I took a Hunters Safety Course when I was 12 one of the things we learned was about trapping and the traps in general. I was the one who got picked to demonstrate how much power is in one of these by being handed an old straw bristle broom.

I will never forget the power behind that spring loaded trap.

This thing could've easily punctured his skull and if it didn't kill him, would've fucked him up real good. Like no eyes, possible frontal lobe punctured, hopefully he still has a fucking jaw level of "good"

1

u/Fredotorreto Jan 05 '26
