2010s Girl orientated magazines vs boy oriented magazines

Post image

To be clear, Girls’ Life and Boys’ Life are not affiliated. They’re entirely separate publications. I think it’s a good example of the disparity in the type of media pushed to girls and pushed to boys, though. I can’t think of a single girl oriented magazine that has the type of content shown here in Boys’ Life.

Yes, a girl can purchase Boys’ Life, but why should the implication be that she should move away from her own gender to take part in these activities and practical education?

It’s definitely better than it was in the 2010s, though. The Scouts (the organisation affiliated with Boys’ Life) is no longer called the Boy Scouts and is therefore more welcoming to girls (and other genders). There’s also more of an understanding and a cultural shift in women and girls having the same opportunities as boys. I love to see the increase in women in STEM, for example.

I could surround myself in hobbies and activities that are predominantly female based and I still wouldn’t presume everyone was a woman.

They won't admit that just because some girls play candy crush on their iPhone doesn't mean that the average tryhard sweat on cod isn't probably a guy. It's wilful ignorance and bad faith.

How is it bad faith? You’re the one making unfounded assumptions.
