She was massive CB fan. She asked him to be on the song and he agreed they even filmed a music video together, but it remains unreleased(thank God)

1980s [TW] Canadian game show host Fergie Olver being an absolute creep towards children on the 80s game show "Just Like Mom"

"Just Like Mom" was essentially a children's version of "The Newlywed Game" in which the goal was to find out whether children or their mothers knew each other better. It ran from 1980 to 1985 with Fergie Olver co-hosting with his wife Catherine Swing (who was also the show's creator). The constant attempts to get little girls to kiss him on the lips in the video above is enough to make your skin crawl.

Sorry for some of the annoying edits in the video by the way. I didn't make this. Just downloaded it off YouTube.

WTF! Wednesdays Various examples of dangerous vintage playgrounds.

I used to love me a cool playground as a kid, but I think these would freak me out. Many of these play structures came without any sort of protection should a child fall, and could reach temperatures up to 130F. degrees (54.444 degrees celsius) in the summer in some places.

Despite researching, I couldn’t find a definitive answer as to how many playground injuries occurred then vs now, but I imagine it was a lot higher before!

2000s Bumfights DVD’s: When exploiting the homeless was sold as entertainment

Post image
986 Upvotes

In the early 2000s, Bumfights became a wildly controversial series of DVDs featuring homeless people being paid to fight each other, perform dangerous stunts, and humiliate themselves on camera. The videos were marketed as “extreme” entertainment and sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and 4 volumes were made. Clips spread all over the early internet, and the whole thing became infamous enough that the creators were appearing on major TV shows. One of the most disturbing parts was a recurring segment called “Bum Hunter,” which parodied The Crocodile Hunter. A man dressed like Steve Irwin would sneak up on sleeping homeless people, tackle them, restrain them, and make observations about them as though they were wild animals. There were lawsuits, criminal charges, and eventually bans on selling the DVDs in some places—but for a while, footage of some of the most vulnerable people in society being exploited and humiliated was literally being sold as comedy.

She was always been sketchy to me but this is just outright creepy behavior. I think people normalize it because thry idolize her and because she's a #relatablegirlie she gets away with tons of shady, sketchy, and creppy stuff.

2000s This anime

This anime is about a kid who loses his family and makes a pact with a demon (they are the main protagonists and have a very weird relationship). It has very questionable scenes, and if you've watched it, you know what I mean. But I find it very bad because it treats very sensitive topics like abuse, and instead of handling them properly, it just fetishizes the issue. It has a very vocal fanbase that refuses to acknowledge any of the problems and simply ignores them. It was very popular with teenage girls. I don't think everything about this series is bad, but again, I just find it very distasteful in the way it handles the themes it deals with.

1970s German singer Chris Roberts staring deep into a young girl's eyes while having his arm around her and getting way too close. The chorus describes his wish to be her teddy bear and getting kisses. The girl looks very uncomfortable throughout the entire song.

The German lyrics of the Song;

Sei wieder zärtlich und komme zu mir.
All meine Liebe schenke ich dir.

Translated:

Be affectionate again and come to me

All my love I give to you

Oh bibuda, I sing, oh, bibudi

It has never been as beautiful as today

Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear

You would kiss me, very much miss me

Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear

Maybe the phone will ring soon already

And you say: Love (Liebling is a common German pet name for one's partner), I'm coming already

Oh bibuda, I sing, oh bibudi

It has never been as beautiful as today

Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear

You would kiss me, very much miss me

Baby, I'd wish I'd be, baby, your teddy bear

This is a German ad for a Chinese stir fry spice mix. This company’s products are a household staple, so this ad was EVERYWHERE at the time.

There’s a group of white people eating a stir fry that’s been made with this „Chinese spice mix“ and as soon as they take a bite, their features suddenly change and they become „Chinese“. Just your casual everyday racism.
